DanDanDan's 350z |WeekendDrifting|DailyDriven|
So im kind of jumping in here in the middle of my build, but most of what you see has already been done before so many times it really wasnt worth documenting
So the car started out as a bone stock touring model with 70k on the odo Its my daily driver. I have other projects such as a 300zx thats getting a new heart, but this is the only driving vehicle I currently own. http://imageshack.us/a/img707/3618/tkc0.jpg http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/8484/tit1.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img801/6/gbvc.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img812/6754/vq28.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img59/1195/48kz.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img194/8118/6e2o.jpg First week I installed injen dual intakes and an ebay exhaust. I didnt hate the exhaust but I didnt love it so I got rid of it. the intakes are great, definitely the best ones for this motor. Threw on wheels from Five Axis/ Five AD whatever they want to be called now specs are 19X10.5 rear +22, 19x9.5 front +25 Powdercoated black mayan gold by vagworks when the previous owner had them. Cant say Id spend that money to get this but I do love how they look. Suspension came next and isnt done but I am happy with the results so far. Tein monoflex coilovers and SPC camber arms are all that has been done. Read the suspension 101 thread on here and its very thorough, tho im not an idiot when it comes to suspension geometry. The transmission had the original clutch and my pedal started going towards the floor a bit more each day so I just decided to do a complete overhaul on the trans. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR FLYWHEEL IS FOR AN HR MOTOR. I was convinced for a month I had other issues when really it was just that the flywheel was for a DE. Took the trans off 3 times. Very frustrating but now I can do a whole 350z trans job in 6 hours. they quote 9 at the dealer and they have a lift. I love the zspeed CSC, only minor grinding was required for the install and just holding it and comparing it to stock its easy to see the improvements over the weak stock unit. Well worth the peace of mind. -ACT stage 2 HD clutch -zspeed performance CSC -new gear oil -stock flywheel Since then mainly been doing adjustments and minor modifications. Shorty antennae looks way better than that stock poker. Ended up gradually lowering the car until now it is at the lowest setting on all coils. Might go up to 250 kg of preload but it isnt necessary yet http://imageshack.com/a/img28/4120/zdxj.jpg In summary so far Engine(always Royal Purple 10w30 every 3k miles) -Injen tuned dual intakes -Stillen Test Pipes (have oem catalytic converters still) -Stillen Y pipe -dumped until I weld up a pipe out the rear Drivetrain: -Back to stock flywheel -ACT Stage 2 HD Clutch -ZSpeed Performance HD CSC ($350 eliminates csc failures and converts lines to stainless, adds clutch bleeder line too) Suspension -Tein MonoFlex Coilovers (sold the edfc controllers) -SPC rear camber arms -modified SPC rear toe bolts (set 1/8" toe in on each side in the rear)-ground bump stops -Cusco front and rear sway bars with new bushings -whiteline front adjustable endlinks Exterior -pulled and rolled fenders |
Very nice, all you need now are some drift wheels so you can keep your DD wheels in good condition.

Your pants don't fit and someone stole your shoes.
Car looks alright, though. |
that not having a rear plate im not a fan of but in other rear shots it has a plate so im assuming you ditched that bumper and got one with a plate? good job!! haha. car looks good, i like the way it sits and the wheels dont look too bad keep up the good work!

Love the rims dude. curious about the z32 you got and your plans for it. I have a z32(TT) sitting in the yard because of a blown
the motor because the previous was a high schooler and paid for s***ty mechanics to work on it. one day i'd like to get a VK56 or SR20 in it....one day. in a different lifetime. when I make better decisions. |
In for the z32
|
My only complaint is the bumper tuck with the OEM exhaust on the second photo, otherwise its really coming along. Good job.

i thought that was just blurring to hide the plate. tho i have no idea why the shot in action doesn't have the plate blurred, maybe OP forgot?

I have a vh45 that I am rebuilding for the 300, currently tearing down motor and pulling out 50 lbs of excess wiring from the harness. I got the q45 donor for $800, manual z32 trans $100, had the 300zx from spinning a bearing. If you can fabricate then its a cheap swap. If you cant you can always pay me to do it for you :)

Subbed. I await the final product of your Z32 because I love my 350 and have plans for mine, but something about the 300 won't let me part with it, even though I should lol heres a pic of my 300, I took the old motor and trans out. just a rolling shell now. also my 350 as it sits, waiting for me to get more money to continue my build
|
This totally distracted me, I have nothing else to add :icon17:

The offset leaves them wayyy buried in the wheel well though |
So I havent done much to the Z...
still waiting on photoshoots to come back, but when theyre free who is complaining Picked up a set of drift spares 17x9 idk what offset. They looked terrible when I got them so I had to do some resto in my driveway -wheels and tires $180 -scotchbrite already had -grease and wax remover already had -paint $9 of rattlecans from walmart, I always get angled nozzles and paint that bonds to metal http://imageshack.us/a/img822/7606/9sfn.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img4/9829/5th6.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img707/1363/2dqo.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img443/3079/22q1.jpg Final product, after ~2 coats, might do a third coat and am going to get a better pic that isnt so dark sometime today... http://imageshack.us/a/img196/5389/v0gc.jpg Im really happy with it my process is to Prep: clean, scotchbrite, degrease Time: wait until dry, windless, not-humid day and spray em Painting: -First shake cans really well and test the paint on something -then do a really light coat from about 15 inches away, just a light dusting to get the paint to start sticking better -then just start coating all of the angles ~6-10 inches away, slow and steady, press the trigger in bursts once your hand is already moving so you dont puddle *its always better to wait a few minutes if you think paint is building up and might drip. Just give it a chance to tack up a bit |
