Default SCAMMER ALERT: SCAMMED BY Tharv Harvard aka Tharv Rfive aka Momara Hong

I posted this in G35/350Z Parts for Sale/Trade on facebook already, but I figured the more exposure the better for potential future victims.

TLDR: I got scammed by Tharv Harvard aka Tharv Rfive aka Momara Hong. Iím out $3088.80 and no coilover.

Last week I saw Tharv posted for sale a set of KW V3 in brand new for only $1500. I jumped on the deal almost immediately. Upon a short conversation with him through facebook message then sms, he sent me the picture of the coilovers and everything seems fine. I immediately sent him $1500 + 3% through regular PayPal transaction. Upon sending the payment is when the things start to get interesting. Tharv claims that he doesnít have enough money to ship, which seems to be a stretch considering he is only is shipping from Ohio to Indiana. He also claimed that the money I sent isnít available to him immediate in Paypal. Seemed weird to me at this point, but I personally did experience this behavior before when I was selling things in eBay, where paypal would hold you money for up to 2 weeks before releasing the fund.
Not wanting to miss out the deal, I asked Tharv to issue me a refund, send me a picture of his driverís license (which got a different name btw), and I will send him another payment through gifts. He did so, but the refund wasnít immediately reversed. It showed ďpendingĒ in the PayPal system. At the time I just though since he already issued the refund, itís just matter of time. I then went ahead and sent him another payment through gifts. And thatís the last Iíve ever seen my $3088.80.

A few days later Iíve been starting to get very interesting emails from PayPal regarding my refund for the 1st payment. Attached are the emails. When I received my first one, I immediately contacted Tharv. And asked about my order status He responded a few hour later acting completely ignorance. I also contacted PayPal, which seemed to be very unhelpful other than telling me to wait. Fast forward to this Monday, again he claims that heís funds havenít cleared his bank and he is unable to ship the item. Finally, today I received my second email from PayPal regarding my refund not coming through. This is when I decided to pull the plug. Upon confronting him and asking for refund for both my transactions, no responseÖ.

Iím just giving the name out there and hope everyone to beware this person and numerous alias that he might use in the future. I am not arguing about this manís innocence by making this thread. Hereís the facts, he got my $3088.80, and I got nothing.

Never send money as gift unless they're gifts! And if the first payment was sent as a payment for a purchase, call paypal and explain the situation. if they don't reverse it right away, DEMAND to talk to a manager.

As turboed350z mentions… don’t send $$’s as gifts unless it is a gift.

As for your PayPal payment… you should be able to recover this.

Sorry to hear that, hope it works out for you and you get your coilovers and the rest of your money back. I'm surprised you went ahead with the deal even with the different name on the drivers license, that would raise a huge red flag.

I'm currently in process of getting my funds back. Only time will tell. Like you said terra, it's too good to be true. I should have walked when I saw a numerous of red flags.

It sounds like a bad situation all around. Never send money as a gift unless it really is that. Paypal should cover you for the first payment you sent. The second payment as a gift would only be covered if you used your credit card and can contest the charge.

Please let this be a lesson. First if something sounds to good to be true it usually is. Second once the first red flag went up "asking for money to be sent as a gift", "having multiple different names show up on ID and accounts" you should cut your losses and walk the other way.

I hope OP gets his money back. What is the username of the scammer on here so we know who to avoid?

I can search for details on him.

What is his and her phone number, email address?

They have a lot of photos from "andythecool kid photography". They both live in Columbus Ohio, she was born July 13, 1989.

Seems like it's a boyfriend and girlfriend.

The OP was stupid to still send money after the drivers license was a different person aka the girl.

I got my money back. It appears the pressure from the community has given him second thoughts.

I learned my lesson from this.

Congrats! Just be more cautious next time. Temptation on a great deal is high, but bad judgement is costly!
