I always find it a damn shame that the 300ZX twin turbo can outrun the 350. With years of development, newer technology, bigger engine and better aerodynamics yet it still loses to it. I hope Nissan brings the Twin Turbo back and join the RWD power war with the Americans and the new Hellcat Challenger, Camaro ZL1 and Shelby GT500. At least their still beating on the Porsche Boxster with the 370Z and the 911 with GTR like they intended. M3, not so much.

Just did a quick power-to-weight ratio of all cars listed. All cars I took were from model year 2008 and all numbers were taken from Edmunds so it was one source.
08 WRX - 0.07019743
08 G35 - 0.08750357
08 Mustang - 0.08939213
08 S4 - 0.08521303
08 Z4 - 0.07119205
08 350Z - 0.09216867
I messed around with every one of these years when I first got my Z. The only one that was close was the S4. The rest I pulled away NO problem at all. Yes of course the driver can make all the difference, and that is why I posted the power-to-weight ratios of the cars mentioned that were "faster" than the 350Z.
Again this is based off of a 2008 350Z, since that is what I have.

Depends on DE or HR engine.
Comparable models:
HR > RX8 , RX7 , 300ZX TT, EVo , SRT4 , S2000 , MAzdaSpeed 3 , Mustang GT 2009 and under
HR = Supra TT , WRX STi
DE > RX8 , SRT4 , 2004 and under Mustang GT
DE > or = S2000 , MazdaSpeed 3, EVo
DE < Supra TT , WRX STi , RX7 , 300ZX TT, Mustang GT 2005 and up

I beat the dog **** out of my buddy's S2K, and I think maybe on icey, or slippery roads the WRX, and EVO might be better.
But for all these examples a straight line is used......If we have learned anything from the Fast and the Furious franchise it's that they need a driver that can turn.

2007 350z Nismo runs 13.0 http://fastestlaps.com/cars/nissan_nismo_350z.html
Being awd the Subaru and Mistubishi will get you on the start but after 100mph the 350z will be faster.

I like how no one mentioned the rivalry targets the Boxster and base Cayman who were the targets when the Z33 and still the targets of the Z34. I remember reading an old poster when I was little back in 2003 about the 350Z with an ad that said "Places to go, Porsche's to pass" and Nissan openly saying they are targeting the Boxster and BMW E46 M3 as a bench mark. I guess Nissan was pretty pissed and wanted revenge after Porsche did this back then. Hence why the GTR is also targeting the 911 and trying to cut into it's sales also.
Some reading if you want know about the rivalry developing between the Boxster, Cayman and 911 against the 370Z and GTR.

Nissan's first jab at Porsche was with the Z33 murdering the Boxster around a track, looks, price and options with the R35 being born to battle the 911 later.
