Upgrade recommendations?
Hey guys, new around here and also somewhat new to the Z community. Purchased my first Z in June this year (Base 2006 350z RevUp) and also recently finished paying off my car loan (yay for debt free). I paid 10,000 for the car, it has 125,000 miles on it. Yes that is priced more than what its worth but it also has about 5k in aftermarket parts on it bought by the previous owner.
This includes:
NISMO CAI
K&N Filter
Borla True Dual Exhaust
Borla Headers
Infinity G37 wheels with custom paint job
White Halo headlights
Blacked out badges
Blacked out tail lights
Jensen 8'' touchscreen head unit
12'' sub
NISMO carbon fiber fair lady shift ****
Custom winter white paint job
New 19''Faulken Tires
A couple of other cosmetic things as well.
New OEM Clutch and flywheel
Custom interior painting on all cheap plastic (white)
Not too shabby for the price eh?
Here's what I'm wondering. I recently thought about getting my car wrapped but after looking into it more and the cheapest quote I received was almost $2,000, I cant bring myself to spend that kind of money on something cosmetic. I read that since my car is a base model it doesn't have a VLSD. Should this be the first thing I get done to the car? Does it really make that much of a difference? What would you guys suggest getting done? I want to keep the car N/A, at least for the time being. I want gains in HP and acceleration for the most part but I am open to other ideas. I looked into getting the car tuned, but was told for the money I would be spending I wound only receive minimal gains with the mods currently on the car.
So basically what should be the next step in modding my car?
VLSF?
Tuning?
Coilovers?
Cams?
Since the engine has so many miles, rebuilding the engine?
Plenum spacer?
When should I get the car tuned?
Thanks guys
-Kyle

I would say a diff would be great, alongside a 3.7 gear set, but first learn more about what you own, it's not an HR

if you are not tracking it dont waste the money on a diff... that is just my two cents
will you notice a difference going around corners and stuff, yeah some, but is it worth the price tag (especially if you cant do the labor yourself)
3.7 gears will and lightweight flywheel will give you some quicker take offs

Whats the deal with the gears? I see you recommend 3.7, I've also seen 3.8 and 3.9, can you explain to me what the difference is and why you recommend that specific one. As far as flywheel goes, by take off do you mean launch or overall acceleration? or both? I don't usually like doing hard starts more of a rolling start so I don't put any extra unnecessary strain on my high mileage engine.

the gearing ratio will make you accelerate quicker, if i remember correctly ours has the 3.5 gears, by going 3.7 you gain a little acceleration without losing barely any gas mileage and barely higher rpms on the highway
flywheel is general, but more noticeable in the lower gears, not as much mass to get spinning.... make sense?

Okay cool. Right now I'm thinking 5/16 motordyne plenum spacer, lightweight flywheel, then a tune. That should pretty much wrap up all bolt ons possible for the car and will put me where I want to be in terms of power on a N/A engine.

I think you may need to do more research if you have to ask what brand of parts to buy, and how it affects your car...
Personally, I have upgraded to a lightweight flywheel, 3.9 final drive, and NISMO GT diff and the car feels like a whole other beast.

I am asking people opinion on brands what they have and can vouch for or recommend. Do you have any idea how many fly wheel brands there are that I can get? Knowing a bunch of brands for different parts isnt actually too helpful. Having people attest to specific brands and the results of those brands is.
