Default new 350z owner few questions

I'm new to the 350z just picked up a 2003 enthusiast this past weekend. Love the car so far and I got a great deal on it with fairly low miles just have 2 questions. First my digital tach up in the smaller set of 3 is not working, the display is blank and shows nothing. Am I missing something on how to turn it on or could it be bad? What would cause it not to work? Second the car came with no navagation just a compartment where it would be, a local junk yard has a screen and controls I can pick up for $275 but will I need more than that? Is there a plug beind the compartment to plug it in or will it need to be spliced in? Is the consul bezel for the navi the same or will I also need to change the bezel to accommodate it? Thanks for any help in advance

We don't have a digital tach

There is a lot involved in adding the NAV unit, the Audi section I believe has the install.

I think he was just referring to the pod not displaying anything. Not necessarily a tach, but all options are blank...

The three gauge pod contains a multi-function display. Pull that section out (search) to determine if all the display plugs are fully connected before trying anything else. As for the nav unit, you cannot connect one unless your car originally came equipped with one. The main harnesses are different...

I'm referring to the small pod closest to the driver up on the center console, I was told it was a digital tach/speedo but it does not display anything, it's just bland, oil pressure and voltage pod work just fine but the one closest to the driver seat that has a digital screen is blank

Closest to the driver displays timer, redline, tire pressure, outside temp, and speed. No tach.

I believe he said he had an '03 Enthusiast. The display will not have tire pressure as an option on that model.

I stand corrected, no tire pressure.

Ok thanks for all the help, I will pull the 3 pod out tonight and look to see what's going on... as far as the navi I suppose I will just put a TomTom in the compartment, or replace the head unit with an all in one but most of them are out of my budget

Last year I bought a used Gauge cluster with 34k miles from ebay for dirt cheap(with the intent to flip for a profit). However, I noticed that the small pod, closest to the driver was blank. Once I put my original cluster back in, the pod worked again. It could have been a coincidence, but just an idea. Maybe someone switched out the original gauge cluster, and messed something up along the way.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your purchase. I can't really add anything to what has been said already, just take it apart and make sure all looks ok and that there are no loose connections or flaky soldering.

it will make a big differance, got mine full detailed after the stealership did a crap job of washing and waxing the car. had wax residue all over everything spent about 3-4 hours wiping down trim, plastic and around every surface that was not visable with the hood doors hatch etc open. she shines like a super model now.

As to navigation, you might want to get a Garmin, they come with life time updates and life time traffic. Excellent when traveling and not expensive, plus can take with you as they also have walk mode. Just a suggestion/alternative.
