So this is week two of owning my first Nissan Z. It is a 2004 350 with 180k miles. Yes I know high miles but the owner took very good care if it with the prof on paper. After I got it I did all the maintaince and fluids so it's running perfect. Now it's time to mod it. I would like opinions what I should do for mods. So far im thinking CAI, lower it, tint and spoiler. Not ricey spoiler but a nice one.

I would be looking at replacing suspension parts like control arms and bushings. 180k is a lot of mileage and you are probably in need of new parts. I would also look at brake system to make sure you don't need new rotors or pads.

Yes, keep a side stash for repairs. Regardless of how well it was taken care of, things will go. In my opinion Z's look best stock/no lip or with the stock lip spoiler. It's very easy to fug up a Z with an aftermarket spoiler. Could put that spoiler money into a nice chin spoiler. Since you are dropping it, that goes well with that. (save up for some wheels too)

You could get those clear/white front reflectors too. Pretty cheap and easy to do. Don't get aftermarket tail lights if you were thinking about it. Either stay stock or get OEM 06+ Z tail lights

Exterior mods are for ricers... Only go wheels and tires for exterior... Pay car off then mod for power.... Replace worn parts like said above... And learn to search must be a millennial

OK, look, all I'm suggesting is that anyone - even veteran drivers - can benefit from improving driver skills. I mean, before you drop a grand or two lowering on coilovers, adding biga$$ tahrs and wheels, blah blah blah, you gotta ask yourself the question: Can I handle my car up to it's existing limits? (Which are quite high in stock form) And answer honestly.

Case in point: I am what most would consider - how do I put it without coming off sounding smug, which I'm NOT? - an experienced, trained driver. Yet, it took me about 9 months before I turned a modification wrench on my car. Why? Because in those 9 months, I was able to get up to about 70% of the car's capabilities and determine what the car did well, and more importantly, what it did NOT do well - GIVEN MY STYLE OF DRIVING, NOT ANYONE ELSE'S - and made my mods according to what NEEDED to be improved and NOT what makes my car cool. (Read my other posts on tuning my suspension to suit how I drive.)

My only point is that you will enjoy not only this car a lot better but ANY car you drive, including POS rental cars if you know exactly how to push it, anticipate it, know its limits by learning how to drive fast SMART. Anyone can push the accelerator, mash the brakes, turn a corner. But to do it eloquently and smoothly is the fast way around a corner.

There are basically two kinds of "performance" drivers: those that drive fast powered purely by adrenaline and are hard on equipment.... and those that are smooth and fast and are easy on equipment. You can't get to the finish line if you break.

Sorry all, didn't mean to get up on the pulpit and preach - when it's not even Sunday but...

But in the end, it's your money, your car.... I was merely making a suggestion.

The 300z was the most beautiful car, bar the ferrari f40, made in the 90s. 20 years later it has still stood the test of time, even more so in pure stock form.

The makers of that very same car created a updated version. They called it the 350z. In ten more years i will respond to this tread and repeat the same thing i quoted you above.

Leave the outside of your car alone. Leave that crap from ebay alone. Only put nissan oem parts on it and let it ride. Except the radio. That thing is trash. Beat the og radio with a large hammer
