Yes, there is such a thing as a stupid question:

Some people can't even be trusted with a dipstick.

So I had my Z sitting for couple months (probably 2). Before it sat, the oil was full. I finally got it together an started it up this morning, notice the oil was at the low mark on the dip stick.
i know that the DE's burned oil but I'm not sure if the HR's do. Has anyone come across an issue like this? Is there anything else that needs to be checked before driving it again?

Yeah, I remember watching that one a while ago. I never really liked that fan-created decal they slapped on the 370Z.

I am torn between a couple of things WRT declining expectations...
One, as moderators, we have to be fair, unbiased, and mindful of trying to maintain civility and very importantly, we need to try and keep people coming back to the site for information (and entertainment or whatever people come here for).
Y'know, web traffic and all that to appease the parent company and re-direct traffic to the advertisers who support the site. Not new news, folks... This is the exact same business model underlying nearly EVERY forum, blog, vlog, etc.
But secondly - and a big point of curiosity to me - is why simple things that can be answered with a quicker use of Google with the "site:my350Z.com" appended to the end of the query seems to rarely ever be used. Takes about the same or less effort than posting a query on the site itself.
See my dilemma?
Of course, I'll get the "But Mic, for every question about 350Zs, there are 567.32 answers to it on this website." (And nearly as many thread pages per topic! I totally get that frustration.)
Here's the deal: Google narrows that down almost to the specific post you need based on how you ask the question; and is much more specific and efficient than posting a generic question then waiting for an answer. Especially when the answer is a google link away to ALL of the answers.
Then, if there are further questions NOT addressed after reviewing the googo results, feel free to ask for more info or clarification.
This addresses the diametrically opposed quandries above.... gives the answers AND keeps the traffic on the 350Z relevant site.... this one.

I'm so sorry Mic. Things just sort of... well... spiraled.

As 2018 begins, I foresee a flurry of questions about Z33 that have been wrecked, rebuilt and resold. Many of these questions take the form of "Well, my Z started doing this or that...", with little background information. There's no mention of mileage, when these problems started, or that they bought their Z on a hope and a prayer.
It's clear many new members are so young, they have no knowledge or background with cars and should be referred to Automotive Tech 101 (thanks for that, Mic). They think there's one tweak that'll solve their problem(s), but the older our cars get, it's clear some posts have multiple problems caused by trying to part out or jury rig systems they have no knowledge of.
In short, I used to think if I could magically be transported to examine the car in person, that a fix might be possible. Now, I suspect the reality is some Z's will be so hacked up that there will be no solution easily obtainable.
