2005 Rev-Up ... simple confirmation
Hey - I'm hopefully going to purchase a 2005 350z, but curious if it's with a rev-up engine or not. I don't want to go by the sellers word and would rather confirm with you guys.
Can you really tell by the tachometer ... 7,000 rpm means rev-up vs 6,500 rpm is non-revup? Also, I read you can tell by track model or 35AE model. Is this true? Thanks in advance. |
If the trim code (on the door jamb sticker) is "AE" the car is a 35th Anniversary car, if it's "G", it's any other model. Only the AE has the Rev-up in '05.
|
Thanks. Pretty sure it's not an AE. Good to know
|
I swore it was track and AE. At least manual models.
Just look for the 7k redline instead of 6500. |
7000rpm redline
Front cam sprocket covers on both intake and exhaust. |
I should have been more specific, and said that only the 6MT AE cars had the Rev-up, not the 5AT.

Definitely not an AE then.

6600 is redline on DE motors, Non rev-UP.

Dam it you guys are going to make me look again.
I was just told the red line and engine covers.. Mines a 05 6MT roadster with brembos. So what Im looking at is.... AE sticker code Cam Sprocket Covers 7k Red-line And possible Brembos (Which I have) |
A lot of people pilfer the brakes and badging before selling them as the AE edition doesn't really command that much of a premium. Its possible you have one and have swapped out brakes and badges. I see that ALLLL the time here in florida.

That's odd...
My door jamb sticker says trim code "G", yet my vin on nissan and everywhere else confirms 35th. I thought the trim code designated the interior color... My paint code is super black, though. So that matches up. |
There's nothing odd about any of this. AE trim code is the only verification of an AE car, and there have never been any AE roadsters.
|
Whats the confusion? If the red line on the big round gauge in the middle with the "X1000" starts at 6600 its a VQ35DE non-revup. Torq-iest motor of the bunch mind you, and my fav for DDing.

In '08, when I was looking for my Z, I saw more than a few "AE" cars for sale, all 2005's of course. Google info showed them all not to be, so I called Nissan for a definitive answer, and they said no "AE" trim code. not an AE car. Except for converting the engine and tach, you can buy all the other stuff off the shelf, including the AE bronze badges. They're ~$40/pr, last I saw. Call Nissan, that's all I've got.
