2004 Nissan 350z Pasenger Side Window Not Working
I have a 2004 Nissan 350z and my passenger side window is half broken. So both buttons in the car do not put the pasenger side window up or down but if I do the trick to put your windows down with the key fob by pressing the unlock button and holding it down for like 5 seconds both windows will go down and if I stick the key into the drivers side door and turn it to the right both windows will go back up. Can someone please help me understand why my pasenger side window works with those two tricks but both bottons inside the car will not make the window go up or down.

Pick up a cheap multimeter and pull your panel off and see if you have power at your switch and power at your motor, safer than buying a new motor for 250$ from the dealer.

i guarantee this is it, especially since it rolls up and down with other methods.... hell i took mine to nissan for it (extended warranty because i thought it was the motor), they brought it back 5 min later telling me that the lock was on.

I don't understand how some people just automatically think the worst scenario and just say to throw some money/parts at it.

If you're mechanically inclined then you could replace the brushes in the motor with a new set. I got my drivers window motor replaced under warranty but I replaced the brushes on the passenger side motor for approx $10 4 years ago and I've had no problems with it since.

I swore I never pressed that button in my life. But after a week of thinking my motor went out I forgot why I clicked it before I posted a thread about it and what do you know.. My pass window worked again.
I was just like OP, everything else worked to roll it down. But it wouldn't roll down while I was in the car. I honestly just assumed my window buttons went out or something.
Kind of one of the down sides to working with a bone yard car like mine. You just assume anything that's not working is broken or jacked up from the crash by default.

The window motors in the 350 are notoriously bad - had my '03 drivers side replaced under warranty in the first 3 years, the passenger side on my dime after 8 years, and just last week the drivers side again. 157,000 miles so not really complaining, overall have had very few problems. But since the OP's works with the key, agreed that it is not the motor. Waiting to see if he mans up like travlee lol.

If you've confirmed the driver side lockout button isn't depressed you can go 2 ways. Get a mult-meter and check for 12V at the motor when the switch is activated. Most folks just get a reman motor off Amazon and call it a day.
