So everything is good now and I passed smog. So the problem ended up being the intake variable valve timing solenoid on the left/drivers side. I replaced both of them but when I tested the old ones only one was bad. I'd recommend anyone over 100k to remove and clean them or replace them, there is definitely a power difference.

Nice! I think I might take your advice and clean mine. I'm at 113k. No issues, but I'm curious to see how gunked up they are.
