So my ex recently threw some shade and tweeted out that 350z (which is what I drive) are for middle aged woman....that had me thinking..I don't think I have ever seen a 350z driver over the age of 30 lol

And oh, my wife is over 30 and drives my car. And so did my former wife, who was closing in on 50 when I bought it for her.

Now that the z is more affordable and high school kids can buy salvage ones, it seems most of the owners are high school douches.

I normally notice older people driving Z's and lots of younger people on the internet that have them. In a few years when all the high school kids wrap the majority of the cheap ones around trees they will be a rare sight.

I'm in my early 30s and love my Z. I don't plan on giving it up anytime soon. Personally I can only recall seeing more than 3 and less than 12 women driving a 350Z in my neck of the woods. The majority of which were over the age of 30. I think it's awesome whenever I see a woman behind the wheel of a Z, regardless of the Z's generation. It's pretty rare, but then again I live in an area where most women seem to prefer driving a more cushy ride like a Lexus, Acura, Merc, BMW, Audi, or VW.

Maybe I'm crazy, but it seems to me that given the option, single women without children pick their cars based on the same criteria they use for choosing jewelry, purses, dresses, and shoes. To them a vehicle is just another accessory (How else could Fiat have a resurgence in the U.S.A.!?) There will always be exceptions to this of course, but based on my own personal observations, women *in general* don't tend to care about reliability, cost of maintenance, hp & tq, handling, or 0-60mph data when choosing a vehicle. Cosmetics coupled with electronic gadget convenience seems to supersede all other variables.

In my area (NYC) ive noticed that the majority of the roadsters that i see are older people in there late to high 50s, the coupes on the other hand i see mostly 18-30 age group, ive heard people say that its an "old person car" but i see the good in that, most of the ferrari and lambo owners are old people
they have pretty good taste.

I'm 58 and drive a roadster. I don't think I've ever been a stereotype before, not sure if that's good or bad.

I have to be careful driving around with the top down tho, cuz the ladies panties be fallin off when I drive by.

People who bought the Z new are generally older because they can afford such things. People who bought used Z's are generally younger, because buying used is the only way they can afford a cool looking car.

Older person driver a Z = could afford a $30-$40K car ten+ years ago. Young person driving a Z today = can barely afford new tires.

I'm actually a hybrid. I bought one Z new (of my current go-'round with Zs not the ones 30+ years ago) - my former's Z34N (still in family but not with me) - and all the rest have been depreciated and pre-owned. Honestly, I can afford a new car if I want.... but that's the key word: WANT. New cars do nothing for me, pre-owned Zs on the other hand...

Proof... wife say: "I don't understand why you don't get yourself a really nice NEW car instead of four old ones. "

"You answered that question in your question."

"Hunh?"

"FOUR"... followed by "That's about 60% of the cost of any new car I'd consider buying."

"You're a nut... but if that's what makes you happy...."

while i am not a middle aged lady- just a 50yoa guy
in my area- for the most part- all the Zs i've come across have all be driven by the teen/20's crowd.

now- i am pretty sure that the 2005 touring that i bought 2 years ago as a 1 owner car- was owned either by a trophy wife, or some other well off middle aged female....
some will say i am stereotyping
but hear my reasoning out first-lol

1 owner, all scheduled maint/repairs/warranty work done at same dealership it was bought at,and all of it done at the correct time/mileage intervals
still had the dealership decal and lic plate frame,all of the manuals,the spare tire kit was still in place and untouched
absolutely zero mods done to the car,(even had a nissan battery,in fact everything replaceable during maint was all OEM nissan)
interior-immaculate except for some scuffing around the black trim at base of gear shift (from a bracelet i think) and around the button on the radio that scans to the next radio station
its an automatic
original floor mats -drivers side accel pedal - a pretty decent scuffed/worn area like from high heels
the leather seats-no scuffing/wrinkles/signs of wear from a larger person
exterior- other than the normal chips to the clear coat on nose/hood, there is one nickel size ding on door but- the bottom of the nose was all shredded -like when parking right up against those parking stop curb things...

and the biggest indicator?
.... the long red hairs i kept finding up under the drivers seat

lol- ok- now you can flame me if you think i was jumping to conclusions

of course- now that i've owned it, i've added/changed out a few things-
the wheels- they are Rays V1 tracks...so unless someone knows all the trims and wheels that come with them-they look like they came with the car
and the BBK-but it is black so they dont jump out at you like the red ones do
and a few other things-but unless you go under the car or in the engine bay or trunk- you couldnt tell that the car was anything but factory stock
