Found a gem for sale
Alright guys, so 12 years ago when I worked at a local speed shop we did a full build on a beautiful 350Z. After working my *** off on the build and falling in love with the car I promised myself I would buy the car if it ever came up for sale. So today 12 years later I got in touch with the owner and he said he recently purchased a GTR and was looking to get rid of the Z. The car is fully built top to bottom block to brakes with a single 6264 making 645hp on low boost no expense spared on any part of the car. The car is in absolute perfect condition top to bottom. I literally looked the car over and found 0 flaws paint body engine car is just as clean or cleaner than the day it rolled off the showroom floor. Car has 28k original miles and 2k on the built sleeved motor. The owner showed me receipts totalling around 125k invested into the car. Parts labor etc. Now here's the kicker.... He's asking $32,500 for the car. We all know there's no way he'll get that out of it. My dilemma is I fell in love with this car 12 years ago and now have the chance to buy it. Realisticly the car is worth around 15k I even offered 20k for it so I didn't slap the guy in the face. He didn't bite. I know I have to pass on the car even 20k is to much for it especially when I bought my car which is fully built with 80k miles clean title and not in as good of condition for 8k. Which was the steal of a lifetime don't get me wrong. I'm really having a hard time letting the car go I know it won't sell and he'll have plenty of time to sit on it but if it does sell I know I'm going to kick myself forever for not buying it. Let me know what you think!

Well I got him down to 25k on the car. Still can't do it at that price though. Having a really hard time with this one. His car is the reason I now own my fully built Z. I've wanted one ever since I built his car. The fact that even 12 years later it is still in mint condition/absolutely perfect just adds to my frustration lol. I think I'll let him sit on it for a bit.longer maybe he will take my offer seriously. Which is still to much but worth it to me.

15 is too cheap, 25 is too much - tell him when he'll take 20 to phone you first and forget about it...in the mean time read this

Some dude with a similar car recently claimed he sold his for the 25k asking price.... I don't think that's a far fetched expectation....
Someone who wants a car like that will pay it, and someone selling a car with that much invested I would think would just keep it before they just give it away for less than they want to sell it for.
Thats how I would be if I was a rich dude with a GTR and a 350z I sunk $4 for every mile driven into.

I can't say I disagree. I have a few things to fix on mine and I'm going to post mine up for sale asap so I can get my hands on this one. I thought my car was a clean 03 until I saw his. Mine is a clean title 80k mile car that's also fully built. His puts mine to shame and really is the cleanest car possible. If I do buy it though I'll almost be afraid to drive it at all per the condition it's in. If it got wrecked or even scratched I'd be pretty upset about it. So we'll see where this journey ends but I have my fingers crossed I'll be able to make it work and find common ground with him.

For one the head lights are in perfect condition so why would he change them at all? And yes he is an older gentleman in his 60's. I'm not a huge fan of the Stillen bumper either but it can be changed. He said he changed the bumper for air flow. I'm thinking 20k at the very most. He bought the car brand new so a lot of the money dumped into it has been for parts upgrades over the years r&d and labor. The fact that the car is in perfect condition is the only reason I'd even go to 20k. I know the history on the car and that it's well built. But I have to sell mine first unfortunately. The next step is deciding if I want to sell my car as a roller so I have all of the spare parts. Or if I want to find a stock motor to put into mine and keep all of the go fast parts. Kinda on the fence about that one either way I'm not giving away all the parts I've been gathering for the last year.

I agree with this...but a guy with 32 bills in his pocket isnt going after a car that is 12 years old no matter how good it looks or what it has.
no one here, when they were buying their 350z had any interest in a 1983 Nissan 280zx - no matter how much work was done on it or how good it looked - same equation just add two generations.
my 2cents - $20k is too much $15k is more realistic(especially if he wants to sell it within a reasonable time frame and the seller is taking a bath regardless ...
anyone (especially an older guy) should know that putting six plus figures into a car that has 160,000 units in its production life is not smart.
But no one said cars were an investment...
asking $32k for this car will keep it for sale indefinitely

^^^ This. Doesn't matter if it makes 1000 WHP, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Also doesn't matter how much he's invested, those were his choices, not yours.
@ OP- It only matters how bad you want it. Subd for updates.

I appreciate the input guys I knew going into it that I would have a hard choice to make. Since I have history with the car it makes it more valuable to me personally. I know the car is worth 15k and I told him that. The only reason I offered 20k is because of my history with the car and that's about what I have into mine with the price of the car. We both agreed that mine felt faster haha but it's also on et streets with no traction control. I have some more thinking to do about it I know I have to make an adult decision but I'll keep u guys posted on what I end up doing.
