Default Please help me decide. 04 350Z vs 370GT v36

Hi guys, I am new here. Hopefully to be another nissan owner soon!

Cut the long story short. I have an evo 8 that I am about to sell due to the non stop issues I am having with it. I have performance in my blood since I was young and I will never be caught in anything that doesn't thrill me in terms of power and thrill.

I have owned several R33 skylines with around 400hp to the wheels and my current car is an evo 8 that is insanly quick. Although it is fairly stock standard.

Now the issue I am facing. My partner is tired of all these performance cars eating up our money due to them being so unreliable. So I have to come to a compromise.

I have couple of options. An 07 g37 auto or a 04 350z auto that was was apparently featured in many auto mags. Or a g35 6 speed with brembos.

Now here is the thing...

I took the g37 for a test drive today.............and I was extremely disappointed. I am not sure it was a good idea having such high expectations coming from an evo 8.

the auto trans was laggy, power delivery had no shove you back in the seat feel and felt very linear. for 240kw it felt lacking although the interior does look amazing. Its a classy car no doubt.

I have never driven a auto 350z, will the 350z feel slower compared to the G37?

I need help deciding

Any advice would be appreciated guys!

Don't get the 04 Z if you're easily disappointed. Also avoid the G35. If you can overlook the major differences between a highly modified Evo and the Z but you're looking to get something more reliable, try finding a 370Z. While probably not as fast as your Evo, it's still more refined and newer.

Good luck.

400 ponies at the asphalt.

OK, if you have to ask about a slushbox Z or G with that to compare to, you're on the wrong forum, sad to say. No Z or G is going to kick you in the backside anywhere near that.

Closest thing going within this realm is a Nismo Z34 and while it's a solid platform and will outperform - on its own and not just because of power - any other 33 or 34, it's still not a 400whp vehicle.

I have a freshly built Vq35De engine ready to be turbo. The goal is 385 HPs to 400ish with an tune. I have put 1k miles on the new motor and no problem so far. I am loving it. I dont own an evo, but I do have an E46 M3 which is super fast with a few bolt-ons. You can get an HR 2007-2008 350z and I guarantee it'll be fun and cheaper than your evo or my m3 to maintain. good luck...
