Default What is this?????

What's up everyone, what is this that fell from the bottom of my dashboard to my foot while I was driving? Is this something important that should be secured from whence it came or is it something else, in my world i call this, and the plot thickens. As always I thank everyone.

I would hate for you to google the PN yourself to figure it out...I know, tough times we live in today make it hard to google.

Anyway it is a GPS tracker so that the bank can repo easily when you default on your loan. Some even start installing kill switches.

Actually, it's always a bit sad when the answer is to SEARCH before asking on a board and being spoon fed the answer.

Why is it always the same people admonishing users to search? It's far easier to type, "It's a GPS tracker".

I'll actually go even further... If you can find out who made it, you can use the serial number to register it in your name. You'll have to pay a monthly fee, but you can use it as an anti-theft device if you hook up a relay to your starter wire. If the car gets stolen, you can see where it is and kill the car remotely.

Yep- I'm one of those people and hopeful shaming people will have some kind of effect. Now get off my lawn!

As for the second suggestion, the GPS tracker is likely already registered to whoever is financing the OP's car. They undoubtedly will want it back once the loan is paid off, so why would you want it wired into your Z?

Doubtful. Unless you've given specific written permission to be tracked, it's illegal. SCOTUS says so. More likely installed by a previous owner.

I've never seen a title loan company use trackers. They hold the title. If you don't pay back the loan, they get the title put in their name and then own your car. Anyone can get a tracker like that to get a discount on their comprehensive coverage. Usually costs $15/month. I've installed about a dozen or so at my shop.

Probably from a buy here pay here dealership. They are well known to install them, the bank generally would not.

hI there, people could say what they want, doesn't bother me at all.. I csn assure you, if that thingy had a name on it I would of Googled it mor did i I think of Googling the serial number, but all I saw was lights and numbers and in my state of panic I went to the next best thing, you guys. I can try to Google lights and numbers and all I got was Christmas trees and inmates, lol, so obviously I come to you fine gentlemen for an answer, which I received, albeit I was spoken to by peeps who weren't to happy with my asking, but all is well regardless..

I thank you for letting me know that was a GPS tracker, for the life of me I didn't know what that was, if it was something important or something that was added by the previous owner that really wasn't needed.
I actually like the idea of using that to my benefit and going about seeing how I can use that as a theft deterrent.
thank you much..

Well if you are gonna ask simple question you better be ready for some ribbing.

Wonder with all that data if we can track you. Or the old owner can track you and steal the car back. Hope all your title paper work is right.
