Yea... Should of spent it on something more beneficial. Folks are using the OEM coils making 700+whp with no issues.

Live and learn.

I got the one step colder plugs, I thought that was the general recommendation from Z1 if you have altered anything?

They have been sitting in my basement for over a year with my new valve covers awaiting motivation.

Was it the magnetic one? I was thinking about getting one of them too from Z1..

Probably not, Aluminium doesn't work much as a magnet

Cheap EBay exhaust that required more $ thrown at it to make it properly fit than the exhaust actually cost. In the end I don't like the sound nor how it looks..,Live n Learn

Yeah I know that. That's why they have the magnetic sleeves that go around them.

The differential drain and the transmission drain bolts both have magnets on the end of them if im not mistaken, I wonder if that would work in the oil pan...

Nissan probably would have put one in their if they thought it was needed.

Isn't she lovely! One gently used, like-new condition, perfectly functional... In-dash cup holder. I spent real money, but at least it's real flimsy and probaby can't hold much more than a medium coffee cup!

I am STOKED. Goodbye mystery hole in the passenger side dash. Goodbye days of almost tearing my rotator cuff just to grab my drink behind me in the center console. Goodbye worries. Hakuna Matata!

Please, follow up with more magical stories of exercises in dumbness.

I broke my cup holder 2 weeks after I bought my car. Those things are flimsy.

Iiiiiiit sure is!

Let's see, what else is flimsy in the OEM Z33 interior... The Sat Nav lid, the center console lid, the plastic insert on the shifter ball, the ashtray/change cup right behind said shifter, the dead pedal, the interior door pulls (and the exterior door pulls for that matter), the mirror adjustment ****, the lining of the storage hatch and the 5th bow motor (roadster only), and the window motors.

Welcome to the joys of Z ownership

There's always room for improvement, even with a manufacturer as prestigious as Nissan.

I got the Z1 oil drain magnet. Not the dumbest money I've spent... I'm sure the filter contains most of the contaminants, but it's still reassuring to see the magnet clean when you're changing the oil.

I didn't even intend for this to be an "informative" thread, but it sure wound up being one! As if I haven't already thrown enough cash at my car... hopefully this will prevent future financial errors.

Eh, let's face it, our cars are one big financial mistake

I bought a Japanese style front license plate holder...never installed because a) there's no really good place to mount it and b) if you place it up in the grille it will massively block airflow.
Kauai cops are kinda funny - you can roll with 75% tint, huge 40" tires sticking waaay out of the wheel arches, lifted so high you can stroll under the chassis..they won't say a thing. But try to drive for 2 days without a front license plate - they are ON it!

Here's a couple pictures of my ride down by the harbor the other evening...note the stock license plate holder

Hahahahahaha!!!! Was talking to a friend's BIL recently in Lahaina... he's an officer with Maui PD and grew up on Kauai. I told him the story about how I got pulled over on 50 heading into Lihue because one of the rental car's brake lights was out. (No biggee, no infraction). He say, "Ey, wutchu 'xpect brudduh, nuttin' else to do dere." (in mock Pidgeon cuz he speaks with absolutely no accent otherwise.)

Nice pics!

yes it was the magnetic one from Z1. After extracting the drain plug I went to autozone and got replacement and I felt a whole lot better after putting it in. The thing is, I usually get my oil up to temp before doing an oil change. The heat exchange to the aluminum oil drain plug with hot oil doesn't really help its structure if you are taking it off and putting back on. Same concept with aluminum lug nuts I guess. and to the comment following yours, there is a magnetic piece that is on the drain plug that pulls metals from the oil pan.

Edit** dboyz, indeed tranny and diff drain plugs both have magnets.
