Default 03-09z headlight question

After I read a bunch everyone with the 03-05 HID headlights are going for the OEM 06+ headlights question is, 03-09 HID plug and play? I know 03-05 base came with just halogen headlights, and they are a 6pin connector. So, 03-05 base(halogen) 6pin connector? And the 03-09 HID headlights all the same? With the 8pin connector? My 03 enthusiast has very fogged headlight lenses and I am getting some new soon, the oem 06+ cost so much and I was wanting black housings but I was wondering if I even buy aftermarket headlights listed for the 06-09 years HID, if it’s all the same? I like the style of the newer ones an I’d be getting either 6k or 8k bulbs, my understanding is yes any 03-09 z with HID are plug an play, just not the 03-05 base halogen models, trying to make sure befor i order any headlights cause if wrong I hate going through a return process so if anyone can help confirm would be nice, thanks

The description of the 03-09 HID headlights is not accurate. As you stated, there are clear differences between 03-05 and 06+. If your current headlights are halogen and not HID, then you'll need to get ballasts and HID bulbs for 06+.

It would probably help if you post a link to the headlights you want to order.

And please - don't get 8000K bulbs unless you want to have horrible night vision and make your Z look like a civic.

Thank you for the reply, I know the differences is the 03-05 have a dual bulb setup for low an high beams, an the 06+ have a single, but as far as fitting an connections being plug an go, is what makes me wonder, an yes I have 2003 with HID and the connector I see is the 8 pin one, I know the style headlights are different (and I like the 06+ style) but question is, as long as I have HID (balist) headlights I should be able To use the 06+headlights just fine, and I don’t have a link yet really cause I haven’t fully desided, and I just want the white bulbs cause mine right now are both different colors from the previous owner

Cause I’ve seen videos an reading of people saying 06+ is most reccommended for the early models wich is making me believe that as far as plug in connector an bolt up on the car 03-09 350z HID models all are interchangeable, and from reading also the only z with the halogen setup is the base model from 03-05. Meaning my 2003 HID car non base (and confirmed by looking) that I have hid, making me think that ordering any hid 350z headlight will work, 03-09. Correct? If not then How would the 03-05 HID connector look vs the 06+ HID headlight connector? Same? Confirming 03-09 HID headlights can all be used within the years? But only 03-05 base/halogen setup can only be used in those years (03-05)

According to the thread below, if your 03-05 has HID, it should just be a simple swap for 06+.

Also, I get it about you wanting white light, but 8000K has a blue hue. I wouldn’t go higher than 6000K.

just did this last weekend. I recently came across a pair of 06+ headlights (DEPO) from a friend parting ways with his Z. I have an 03 with stock HIDS and basically swapped the ballast over from my 03 to the housing of the newer style. light output sucks still and i think i need to adjust them so they aren't pointing straight down at the ground. either that or i'm going to upgrade to a 55W ballast because the stock ones are all 35W
