Non resonated vs resonated test pipes
 

Hey guys,

I current drive a Nissan 350 07'. I changed the stock exhaust to a brand new stillen exhaust. I wanted to make the cars performance faster and louder at the same time so, I decided to buy test pipes from "fast intentions". I had a choice to buy resonated vs non resonated test pipes and I decided on the non resonated because, the guy informed me it would be the best choice for having the performance and volume increase. Can anyone specifically tell me the difference between resonated and non resonated?

resonated dont tend to be as raspy

Obnoxious vs loud. Consider a reflash /tune after all intake and exhaust mods to get max performance.

Bad vs better sounding.

I'm going straight pipes after turbo for Preformance after my tune. But I'm sure I'll be going to resonator set up shortly after. But for now, because race car.

My old injen v2? exhuast with non-resonated test pipes had no rasp. Just depends on the exhuast.

I currently run no cats with stock resonator/muffler on my turbo z. Had an electric cutout installed before the resonator and didn't make any noticeable difference in power(at least at the 1/4 track) with it open so I took it out, plus it was annoying(I should have installed after resonator)

Have you done a back pressure check running that?

That's how I'm running right now but I was told the stock exhaust really increase manifold pressure when boosted. Which is why I want to ditch it for straights.

My 07 is running Berk Resonated TPs and an AAM Comp Single (which has a resonator and a muffler). I still get told the car is loud, but its pretty quiet at neutral after it has warmed up. Sounds great when I open her up though.

Out of 10 its a 7.5 of the volume scale with the test pipe/tomei combo being the loudest.

I currently have the Z1 Test Pipes and dual tip exhaust also from Z1. I dont hear rasp unless I am in really high RPMs and or maybe in a tunnel, but it sounds amazing IMO.

As far as I know, resonators don't hurt performance. Resonated exhaust parts just cost more than non-resonated parts. I'm running the Motordyne XYZ with resonator, and Z1 single exit exhaust. There was initially a lot of drone (I ended up wrapping the exhaust to cope with it), but the overall tone is extremely pleasant, and there's no noticeable rasp. It's easy to make the VQ sound raspy, need some good quality parts to counter that.

My first setup was AAM non-resonated testpipes with S-Tune and it was LOUD!

Current setup is AAM non-resonated testpipes/ XYZ Pipe with resonator/ S-Tune midpipe and muffler and it is 100X better.

XYZ with resonator is the way to go if you get non-res pipes.
