Default Transmission seized to engine???

So I was quoted like a grand to get my clutch replaced so I thought I would do it myself. I'm at the stage where everything is removed, all the Bell housing bolts, clutch cylinder, all the wires, all the braces, however my transmission will not come off I wonder is it seized to the engine or have I forgotten something. Need help thanks

I had that problem when we pulled an engine from a G35. took us a while to seperate the two. My guess is, its just stuck on. Work it some more.

Always post which model and year Z you have with a question like this. It saves time between guessing which drivetrain combo you have. My guess is you've still got pressure on the input shaft and will have to use a tranny jack to shift the gearbox back-and-forth before it comes loose.

Update I have a 2004 enthusiast and I spent another 3 hours trying to remove it, I have a tranny Jack under it and it won't move. Do I have to do something specific with the shifter????

there are several bolts. Check the FSM. Some point towards the rear of the car and others to the front.

You must have missed one. Inspection cover, top 2, starter bolts, lower 2 etc. Also drop the drive shaft too.

You have to have missed some bolts. I did my clutch and flywheel two years ago and once I got all of the bolts off it easily split. There are 2 bolts on top that could be missed.

Mine came apart easily when I did the job.

Maybe try to carefully pry it where the flywheel sensor was bolted, the hole there be big enough to fit a decently thick metal bar and pry the tranny off slowly, but be careful so you don't bung anything up.

Lower the tranny jack a little and hit the side of it with a rubber mallet. It shouldn't be that difficult if all the bolts are out.

There are two dowels on either the block or the tranyy (forget which), could it be that you are applying too much pressure on those joints, through the use of the tranny jack?

Try lower the tranny jack a bit maybe that will let it come loose.

How many miles on the car?

If you think its fused on, spray some PB/bolt loosener around the circumference on the joint and let it soak for a bit.

You have a total of 12 bolts. 8 of them are transmission to engine and 4 are engine to transmission.

Most likely your dowel pins are stuck in. It took 3 of us over 2 hours to get mine apart. It was damn stuck. Like it wouldnt budge! Eventually it did separate.

I'm at the beginning of a clutch replacement now. Those top two bolts are reachable from underneath but I had to use so many "wobble" (ball end) extension pieces to snake around the transmission case that they absorbed a lot of the energy put out by my impact driver. Those bolts wouldn't budge one bit.

I found a video where the guy accessed the top 2 bolts from above via the engine bay. They came loose like butter when I did it this way with a breaker bar. The only trick was adding my shortest extension to extend to the bolt head with the right spacing. A deep-well socket will also reach (that's what the video hero used ).
