Hey. I cracked my oil pressure sensor and am having the stock location welded shut.

I've seen people add oil temp sensors to the lower oil pan and oil coolers, wasn't sure if these areas could be used to relocate the pressure sensor.

Thoughts?

You can't weld it shut, don't even try.

When I installed the new pan, i didn't notice that there's a bung that must be transferred from your old pan to the new one. See the red circle.

When I cranked the motor over, oil exploded out of that hole with the force of a thousand suns.

Would be a good place to add a sensor.

Putting the pressure sensor T in the oil cooler lines might work. If you put a oil pressure sensor on the lower oil pan you will be measuring crankcase pressure not oil pressure.

Oil sandwich plate is about $25 off ebay. You could add one and use the port on that

I was thinking a BSPT pipe plug instead? Must be missing something.

Alot of the times when people crack the pan from the sensor location, it cracks in multiple places. I actually had a 1/4" male BSP to 1/8" female BSP in hopes of just tapping it, but before the guy started welding he had noticed there were a few additional cracks (perpendicular to the oil pressure sensor location) So for a better chance of probability, he suggested we just coat the pan like it's an east coast winter.

Fact. Though i've been reading through the manual, replacing the upper pan seems easy if you have a hoist (which I do)

Seems like the only had part is removing the front cross member, which is just a few bolts

See your original post said you cracked the sensor, not the pan lol

Haha true true. Back then I was a young niave owner. These days I've got a bit more experience under my belt.

The pan is cracked, it's unfixable and can only be replaced. Gonna go pick one up today and do it this weekend

It's been like 3 weeks! Young and naive lol.


Be careful man. also be sure to prep the sealing surfaces and ensure no oil will seep down once you apply the RTV.
