Getting tomei expreme ti, what y-pipe?
So im getting a tomei expreme ti exhaust and need a y-pipe. I know tomei makes one and i am all for it, but everything i read says it makes it louder. Enter the motordyne xyz y-pipe with resonator. I have only found one video with the combo but it seemed too quiet. Im not looking for super loud. It has crappy duals on it, right now, that the fiberglass insulation has started to come out, so its now really loud. The volume is fine but the sound sucks. I was also looking at the isr y-pipe, but is it gona really be any quieter than tomei's? It is 225 shipped, so much cheaper. I just dont want to sacrifice quality. What are your guys thoughts?

First off, there is nothing you can do to make a Tomei Expreme "quiet", short of adding 2 more mufflers downstream. 
Second, and speaking from experience, I would wholeheartedly recommend the Motordyne XYZ with resonator. To be honest, it didn't really cut down the Tomei's volume at all (which was my reason for buying it). It did however clean up the sound a bit, which I'm guessing was the extra resonator's doing. It gave the Tomei a warmer, more refined sound if that makes any sense.
I absolutely LOVED the way my car sounded when I ran that combo, it was just way too loud personally for a daily driver. Also like dboy mentioned, you can always swap out the resonator for a straight pipe or HFC if need ever arises.

My last setup was AAM test pipes and S-Tune cat-back. Holy crap it was loud!
Switched the Y-pipe to the XYZ with resonator and it did exactly what I needed it to do. Made it totally streetable at regular driving and LOUD at WOT. I honestly love this setup so much, I couldn't believe it took me so long to do this.

I had my Z for two years and never got pulled over for exhaust. Drive like an was and they get you
I did Tomie with the Motordyne resonated Y pipe and was in love every time I drove it

So i got my motordyne xyz with resonator and tomei expreme ti installed today....Wow is all i can say. Sounds way better in person, the videos dont do it justice. Hard to describe, i can hear the stock vq note in there, but so much more exotic sounding, so smooth. I thought it was gona be loud, but its not really. Very impressed

I have two cars with tomei. One with xyz with resonator And one with AAM Y which I believe is the best Y for power. Seems the only time the resonator makes a difference is at idle. Once you get on it it’s loud either way.
Both cars have long tube headers and are cammed so very similar to base this comparison off of

yes i still have cats, working on that though. Just the xyz resonator and expreme ti. Sure, its loud, just not as loud as i thought it would be. Eardrums seem fine. I will have to have someone drive the car by me so i can hear it outside my cat. Most of the vids on youtube, with this exhaust, have test pipes and or headers, so they are really loud. This is easily streetable and i laughed about ever using the silencer
