Default 350 randomly stalling / giving codes

Hello! New to posting on this forum but have been reading for awhile. Hoping I can find some opinions that lead me in right direction...

I have a 2006 350z and I have been having car problems. The problem started when I was driving around my house... I was in traffic and waiting for the light, when with no warning, the car shut off. The service engine light came on first. Then the traction control light came on and the slip light. I then shut off the car completely (key out) and waited for a couple minutes.

From there, I tried starting the car and it started right up. The service engine light stayed on and the other 2 lights went off. The issue (car randomly shutting off) happened again on the way home. This time I was driving on the highway and the car literally downshifted, like when you push the traction control button . I got to the rest area and I shut it off again for a couple minutes. Again the only light on was the service engine soon light stayed on.

I went to auto zone to get the codes checked - and they found the following...

Crankshaft Position
Sensor A Circuit Malfunction

I had a local mechanic replace the crankshaft sensor and it seemed to run fine for a couple days and the service engine light was gone. After a few days of driving after this the car shut off again and the service engine / traction / slip lights came on... I have been driving to and from work and the service engine light is still on... and I have not gotten the error codes checked again...

Just trying to get some ideas on what might be the issue since replacing the crankshaft sensor didn't totally fix.

I'm going to guess that you did not use an OEM NISSAN crankshaft position sensor...? Welcome, btw.

No problem.. Not at this time, but I may if that OEM sensor doesn't work.

How many miles on the car? Just went through this same problem, so I'll save you the headache. Go to Z1 Motorsports and order 2 new OEM camshaft and 1 crankshaft sensor(s). Get those replaced and hopefully your mechanic can clear the codes out.

Don't waste time with AutoZone or Amazon sensors. I'm already out almost $200 doing the exact same thing. Just get the OEM ones and be done with it. And also pick up an OBD2 scanner.

^ Good advice. OBD2 scanners can be had for 30ish bucks I don't recommend the blue tooth versions that connect to your phone via Torque app. Mine broke in 3 months.
