My car shut off highway exit.
Had something scary happen to me this Monday while I was getting off a highway exit. My car shut off and I was coasting at 65 mph, stepped on my brakes and couldn't really stop then as I came closer to the car in front of me I pulled the ebrake and steered the car off to the side of the road coming very close of hitting the car in front of me. !HOLY ****! I looked like a idiot & I bet the person in front of me thought I was speeding or wasn't paying any attention. After a few seconds I started the car up and put the ebrake down and was on my way home. No CEL or ABS light. When I got home first thing I did was get the laptop with my UpRev software & check for any hidden codes. Found only one code for the ABS & it was U1000. No hidden codes for the engine at all. Looking up the U1000 code on the internet and it could be a list of things. So the blame can't be on the ABS alone, the problem is hidden somewhere else on the car. I'll be checking for loose grounds in the engine bay and in the dash when I get some warm weather. If anyone has any insight on this pleez feel free to let me know what I should do or look for. Thanks

No power, no power brakes. It's a bear to brake when the engine cuts out and the brake booster isn't getting vacuum. I bet you lost your power steering too. For what it's worth Albaugh, you did everything right by not panicking and pulling off to the curb.
Did you lose all electrical when the engine cut out or was it just the engine?
