be very careful ... use a tiny amount of blue / medium Loctite and finger-thread until tight...or use a torque wrench - have no fear

Didn’t get everything done. Was torn a bit on the oil catch can. Not 100% on what to do with it. Cover that at the end of the post. Pressure sensor is easy. It’s not “tight” but if it leaks, I’ll tighten it.

Bashbar, 19row z1 Setrab oil cooler, and CZP oil pan installed.

Breath both valve covers into this catch can and add a filter to the can.

Or breath both valves covers into this catch can and have a return line back to the intake. If that’s the route of choice. Back to the plenum or to the intake tube?

Help.

Just did a little research and found the Oil Filter i'm going to be running: BALDWIN 40034

Comps:

K&N HP1008 (normal filter for a z)
Height 2.8"
OD 2.688"
Micron 10
PSI Bypass 11-17
GPM 10

Wix 51347 / Napa Gold 1347
Height 4.8"
OD 2.921"
Micron 21
PSI Bypass 8-11
GPM 9-11

Baldwin BT40034
Height 5.5"
OD 2.626
Micron 23
PSI Bypass 14
GPM 11-15

I made this post thinking I was going to use the baldwin, but found out after ordering that it's a bypass filter (let's about 10% through unfiltered).

*EDIT* called Baldwin and their filter is 100% full flow with a bypass valve. BOOM!

Will pick up the filter tomorrow and should have her fired up and will be checking for leaks!

Also, cut my front bumper and repositioned the tow strap a bit.

Went to go fix the leaking breather hose on my diff only to notice it’s the side seals that are leaking on me. First started happening after welding the diff locked. Ordered new seals from z1 and figured while i was in there I’d order some new solid bushing and the Z1 cover. Being a drift car, i don’t see any purpose in doing a cooler set up since it’s only used on short runs. Figured the Z1 cover kit would be more than enough.

Been taking a break from wrenching. Driving an hour each way to work on the car gets draining. But the diff seals arrived so i'm going to swap those out today/tomorrow. Should have the car dialed for a drift even this weekend

Well well well

I didn’t take many pics of the progress. But i changed out the diff seals. Very easy to do, also upgraded the diff cover with the Z1 and redline 75-90.

While i was down there, put in the Z1 sold diff bushings. Used their removal tool and kinda ****ed up, boring out the subframe a bit. So, i tried tig welding it. Didn’t come out well, but should suffice. Z’s appear to be mig welded all around, so I’m gonna try that some more tonight.

Just as a added safety, i made a diff brace to give it some support.

Meh.

Went to a drift event over the weekend. It was so much fun. Here's a quick recap someone made of me driving.

Last 2 runs, my pilot bushing started making a **** ton of noise. Just ordered a new clutch setup from Z1.

Haha well I didn't come up with it myself. It's a cool look though.

Curious if you can help me with an "issue".

I unplugged the bosch device under the "arm rest" and cut the ABS fuse...though while drifting on throttle, if I use my left foot on the break. It cuts all power. Any thoughts?

I left a little more meat on the bone but same idea!! I'll upload some pics to my build thread...

I believe the bosch is the yaw sensor? I 'could' imagine that when you brake it's looking for a signal from the bosch sensor and when it gets null it cuts power. And what do you mean by cutting power? like 100% to the car?

I would plug all that stuff back in, replace the fuse and see how it does.

Well..merp.

At the last event, my clutch got LOUD. Since it was a frankensteined setup, i figured I'd change it all.

Turns out the motor I swapped into the car was from an automatic. I had never done a clutch before and didn't realize that the pilot bushings were different.

So my car basically didn't have a pilot bushing in place....crazy i was able to drive all day without issue.

Pulled the old bushing out and put in the new one. Easy enough to get it removed with the right tool.

Z1 lightweight flywheel and their 6-puck sprung clutch disk.

New throw out bearing, SS clutch line and new slave cylinder. Looks nice.

Just some guy in Southern California! He makes them to order out of his garage. Fully tig welded, tube ends are capped. Really high quality AND fits under your stock bumper cover.
