Default Viagra For Oil Filters

I believe I found the biggest oil filter humanly possible for the Z.

Bigger filter = more oil capacity, better oil cooling, and helps reduce oil pressure drop over time (due to the tiny stock filter getting clogged).

K&N HP1008 (normal filter for a z)
Height 2.8"
OD 2.688"
Micron 10
PSI Bypass 11-17
GPM 10
-------

Wix 51347 / Napa Gold 1347
Height 4.8"
OD 2.921"
Micron 21
PSI Bypass 8-11
GPM 9-11

BUY HERE:

https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/FIL1347

-------

Baldwin BT40034
Height 5.5"
OD 2.626
Micron 23
PSI Bypass 14
GPM 11-15

BUY HERE: https://www.grainger.com/product/BAL...Element-52ZK04

Can you find a bigger one?! Please do!

For the money, the best option is to go with the Napa Gold 1347. It's the cheapest and still offers a significant increase over stock. Scroll down to see my testing.

I like what Kev did but it's probably overkill* if youre running your car in normal conditions and getting regular oil changes.

Hey Kevin - where do you buy these and how much do they cost?

Id be interested to see what the filter element looks like...

*says the guy who runs two oil filters...

Oh it's 100% overkill and is likely most cost effective to just run the wix/napa gold if you're looking for a bigger oil filer.

I spoke with one of the engineers at Baldwin and he said it has metal end caps and the bypass valve is at the front, not at the rear. (all good news). I'm curious though so I'll cut one open after a few drift events to find out.

It costs $15.05. Almost twice the price as the Wix 51347 / Napa Gold 1347.

Apparently there are fakes...so I bought it directly from Grainger (free shipping to their store).

When i get to the shop today I'll fill it up with oil and see how much extra it holds over the stock filter.

I'm going to be picking it up here in a bit and will post an update after I have the car started and not exploding.

The results are in!

Stock oil filter holds 40cc of oil
Wix/Napa Gold holds 150cc
Baldwin holds 200cc

It’s not quite as significant as I had hoped. Adds just under 1/5 quart of extra oil.

For the price, just go with the Napa Gold 1347 or Wix 51347.

With so much more filter element surface area, you will see less pressure drop over time using the largest filter you found. Especially comparing to a 10 micron+tiny element K&N filter. That is more important than the volume of oil it adds to the system. I would run it

Close the hood quickly in case the dipstick expands.

Hey guys,

My 2 cents: the microns are the main thing you want here. Less and smaller particles left in the oil.
