Gasoline Smell
I recently bought a 2005 350z. A few days ago i turned it on and it made a weird tink noise before a very strong gasoline smell filled the cabin. I drove it less than half a mile after that and upon acceleration it began ticking. The higher the rpm the worse the ticking became. I ended up leaving it at work until the next day when I planned to pick it up and drive it to a mechanic. That day it drove perfectly fine, and I can only smell a faint gas smell every now and again. Does anyone know what would cause this?

A ticking sound could be an exhaust leak. Maybe the Tink was a bolt falling off that connects the catalytic converters to the exhaust headers. If the cats came loose, that would explain the ticking sound and you would start to smell fumes in the cabin.
