Illuminated NATS antenna swap
 

The 2008 350Z was the first year to have an illuminated ignition switch ring. I have a 2005 car. I bought a 2008 ignition switch and would like to install the illumination ring. Is there any way to install the ring and keep my original NATS antenna or can I install the 2008 antenna and lighted ring without having to reprogram?

You can trim the outside of the ignition ring and slide the illuminated section over it. You can then wire it up to the courtesy/dome light. :thumbup:

I saw that thread but I don't think it mention anyone who actually trimmed the ring and slid the illuminated part in. It did however show that a G35 illuminated ring fits over the outside of the NATS ring.

I found a 2008 ignition switch online, so I ordered it and it is presently on its way. I will update this thread as I make progress.

I received the 08 ignition switch but the seller did not include the bulb or the wiring. I went to the junkyard and decided to use the illumination ring that goes on the outside of the n a t s antenna. This is found on Altima and Maximas. The one I got was from a 2002 Altima. It had the bulb and the wiring. It seemed easier to install and I was right because when I brought it home I just had to grind a small amount off the plastic and it fit perfect. Also the trim piece which goes around the turn signals and windshield wiper stops has an opening that's just large enough for the ring and so I didn't need to use the little trim ring that goes around the outside. I'll post pictures tomorrow

The illuminated ignition switch works great and I used my original NATS antenna so I do not need to program my keys to start the car.

Well, I bought my 06 Z last year and I was like..wait a minute mine has a light up ring. So 06 and up I think

06 Illuminated Ignition ring

I'm curious if the black NATS antenna is changed, if the ECU/BCM needs to be reprogrammed. If its just an antenna, it would not need to be reprogrammed
