Mods for Auto 08 z?
Just bought a 2008 auto 350z, what are the best power mods?
|
Turbo if you have 10Gs and if you overnight parts from Japan. Actually more like China nowadays. Get a rear diff with a 3.7 final drive, will change the way the car feels.
|
Even just a 3.5 ratio swap would be nice. But really I would focus on driver mod |
EXHAUST, INTAKE, TUNE,,,, check out Z1 Motorsports

De-tune for gas mileage is the best power mod because it gives you power to change the environment for the better of our species.

O yeah......I forgot about carbon footprint tunability......

But actually, with the advent of mega-kilowatt motors, this would be a very interesting swap now that I think about it. That's a way of getting 400 to the ground. Not easily but hmmmm..... the mind gears are spinning. EDIT: After a bit of research (about 1 minute's worth), decided that the "conversions" that are already out there sound more fun..... LSX..... well, a "clean" LSX run modestly would deliver better emissions given the same propensity of speed as an "unclean" turbo... Laff.... |
Take a step back and think about what you hope to accomplish with this car. Then consider your budget. Modify from there.

Saw a guy (think he was an electrical engineer) convert his Lotus Evora to full electric. I think Tesla had used a evora tub and exterior bits already.......but dude maxed it out with power. Was incredibly fast, but by no way inexpensive.

My vote goes to sticky tires like MPSS. Then learn their break-loose point and don't put others in danger. Enjoy!

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....e7410e41ff.jpg This one is going to be I-N-S-A-N-E-!!!! Zip-60 around 1.9 seconds. Not for the faint of heart. Not "almost" ridiculous... TOTALLY ridiculous! Gonna be a lot of the uber-rich-but-no-cents people making the news, and not just for crashes under the influence of "auto-pilot" like today's T-cars. Honestly, it'd be wise for Elon and crew to offer racing driver training with this one and that probably still won't be adequate. I drove a P90D at a intro event at Pebble Beach a couple years back and honestly, that thing scared me it was so fast. And that was a big Model S! Sorry to digress.... #drivingschool to the OP. ;) |

op, i hope you brought your flame suit :icon17: - realistically, there aren't any bolt ons that will add noticeable power gains, specifically without a tune. Even with a tune, it won't be a ton, nothing your butt dyno wont be used to inside of a couple weeks. (the sound of the car will improve though) Turbo or supercharger are the way to go, but if its your daily driver my suggestion is to just enjoy what you have. If you start swimming with the big fish be prepared to pay the piper because big boy toys cost a lot money to use and maintain.

Theres an electric swapped miata at my local college. You could maybe go to your local university and get them to swap it to electric as an engineering project. you might not get it back in one piece tho.
