Idle at 1500

Hey guys so I’m new to this and joined because all my local mechanics and the Nissan dealer mechanic couldn’t figure out what to do so here it is, a few days ago I went to get my throttle body cleaned, after I got it cleaned I drove it maybe 1.5 miles, all of a sudden it had the check engine light on, I took it to the mechanic who did the throttle body clean and he said the only code it is giving off is that it’s giving a high idle, now he ran it through this computer and when ever he tried to reset the idle it would drop to 500 but as soon as he took it off his computer thingy it spiked back up to 1500, and I went to him and another mechanic and finally ended up at the dealership, which they told me the same thing, they said it’s running high idle but for some reason the couldn’t drop it down to normal idle levels, I do have a Z1 cold air intake installed, and I noticed that one of the bolts is broken :(, so I had to install my Factory intake, but for some reason now the rpms are spiking like crazy, when I take my foot off the pedal it drops 500 or so rpms bellow where it was and would shoot up 800 rpms back up. Do you guys got any clue as to what is happening? Btw I ended up getting a new throttle body so I don’t think that could be the case, and it’s just NOT accepting a reset of the ecu. Please anything you know to help me, it’s an 2003 with 65k in miles. Not a rebuild engine if you were wondering why it’s an 03 with such low miles. Just hardly ever used as I was the second owner which I bought it at 40k Miles’s. It’s also auto.

This tip is easy (and FREE). Might be worth a try to do the Idle Air volume relearning:

Is your car in limp mode or are you still able to drive it? I had a similar problem to what youre describing but mine was much more severe so i dont think it will help but I made a very detailed thread on how i fixed it. It may or may not help but its worth a read: https://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-...h-install.html. I know there is a well known issue with high ide for the HR engines but ive heard of it effecting DEs as well.. So maybe look that up as well.

It’s not limp but just the rpms spike up and down when I release the gas pedal. But a mechanic did tell me that since I have an after market stereo installed the ecu wouldn’t do a relearn because it needs to have oem parts and since the stereo is connected to all the wires in the car that could be a reason why it’s not relearning?

As I understand it, any time the throttle body is unplugged it needs to relearn what its purpose in life is. Much the same as I have to do every morning when I wake up.
I'm going to take a shot in the dark and guess that the code you are getting is PO507?
Just for the fun of it, click on THIS LINK, go to the end of the document and follow the instructions on the last page.
If you have problems with step #8 in the last section, let me know, I may have discovered a solution for that.
Hey, if nothing else, you get to enjoy even more quality time with the car :)
