Default Am I Ready? Any Sellers Near Me?

Ive been looking for over 2 months for my next car. No matter what I find, I always come back to looking at 350z’s. I’m 18, I live in NJ, and am looking to spend $8000-$13000. My first car was a 2016 WRX STI and I have driven a 2003 350Z multiple times which is why I love it so much. Would you guys recommend me going down the route of purchasing a Z? If so, anybody selling theirs in the central New Jersey area (preferably less than 80k miles and manual)?

Welcome, but you'll have better luck posting a want to buy (WTB) thread like this in the WTB or Northeast regional sections.

Hi Max. Check Internet car sites. Examples are: cars.com and cargurus.com.

Used 350z's re typically overpriced, and often have customization that the owner is hopeful adds to the value. In fact this actually lowers the car's price.

When shopping for a used 350z, avoid any car that has owner-added custom features. You should look for a completely stock car.

Don't become emotional when you decide upon a car. Get tough!

A 2003 or 2004 35z is worth around $5k. Fight for that price. A 2003 or 2004 will have a problem transmission, so use this as a negotiation point. If the transmission is not updated, you will pay $1800.00 (plus installation labor) for the newer CD009 or CD00A transmission. If the car's mileage is over 80k, you will need crankshaft sensors, camshaft sensors, oxygen sensors, and some other stuff that will come to over $2k.

If you fight hard, you will find a bone stock 350z and negotiate a price below 5K. This car will cost you some $$'s, so go for your best price.

Dam, I bought my 2008 350z that had 70k miles for $10k...
No accidents reported, a mid aged lady so you know the Z wasn't being ripped on, fairly new tires, no mods. I have had no problems so far with my car.
Every Z around me is around $10k for 70k mileage. But did I just get ripped off for $10k????

$10K is a very fair price for a 2008 350z with relatively low miles (7k miles per year is low). Also, Nissan had perfected its 350z by 2008. It is really a better car than the earlier models (especially 2003 and 2004) that had problems with the transmission, sensors, and some engines.

I would personally highly recommend getting a 350Z. It's more than fast enough in a straight line to keep up with almost everything around its price range while giving you outstanding handling for track use. I got my 06 Touring with 144k from a soon-to-be married guy for 5k so I got a bit of a steal.

The market might be a bit more pricey in your area but with 8k-13k, you could potentially consider a HR or even a higher mileage 370. I've found plenty retailing between 11k-13k in my area. But I don't know how hard it would be to find one close to 80k miles. If you do decide to stick with pre-06 models, beware of the oil burning problem that plagues the used Z's market. But if you wanted to modify the Z, a 03 base model would be the cheapest one and leave you with plenty of money for whatever you please!

Hey Travis, life has been great! Hospital life has been good as always, I switched to pediatrics 4 years ago lol I’ve enjoyed the BMW F10, makes around 600hp. But man I just miss my 350Z… I cam across an old insurance slip an ran the vin of the 350Z, that 17 year old I sold my Z to back in 2015 totaled it 3 months later….how have you been?
