Final drive question
Hello guys,
I killed the search option but could not find a clear answer to my questions...
Please bear with me!!
I have a stock 05 non rev up Manual roadster non-base ( I don't know which one it is but I have the rays wheels and cruise/bose...)
My questions:
-I want to get a 4.08 final drive, is it fine to do it with stock vlsd knowing that I have 90'000 km on the clock (approx 55000 miles)
-if it is ok what else would I need if I buy this one (what I mean is, is it ready to be put on or I need other parts) : torqen 4.0
-I really don't have the budget for a lsd, but I don't drift (that often ) so its fine.
-I really just want to enjoy acceleration in the first 3 gears.
-I am thinking of getting a midweight flywheel (21 pounds vs 30 stock) from z1 motorsport to complement the setup but I don't want to compromise drivability as I live in Morocco and if you don't know, stop and go traffic is worst than in India.
I would really appreciate your opinion.
Thank you in advance !!!!

You could just install it or since the casing will be open and out, you could also replace all the seals.
4.08 is a big jump from the 3.5. you should notice the difference. But for legal street use only, it won't matter much.
As far as flywheel, it depends on how much chatter you can stand. Light flywheel will make the car rumble if you have stiff bushing. In traffic, you want a soft clutch pressure plate.
Another flywheel disavantage is the engine braking will be more pronounced when lifting the pedal.
It is all about comfort vs performance. In a street car , just upgrade your diff. But for track , I'll go lightweight flywheel. It will teach you more about smooth pedal inputs than a heavy one.

Thank you fflipski for the answer, we don't have any tracks here anyways , but I am not sure I understand what you mean by "But for legal street use only, it won't matter much."

In some us states changing the final drive is prohibited per emissions control laws. I don't know about Morocco tho.

It's cheaper at Z1: https://www.z1motorsports.com/transm...36-p-4523.html
675USD vs 696GBP. Big difference there.
The 4.36 is actually cheaper by nearly $100. If you don't do much highway driving, that super short gearset will really make it wild in the first 3 gears. :P
Worth mentioning that a 4.36 with a 7000rpm on 18" wheels will have a gear limited top speed of about 240kph.. Food for thought.

Shoomakan habibi thank you for the advice, delivery is quite expensive and late with Z1, but I am thinking about it!! I have ordered from them before, I have nothing but good things to say about the quality of their products.
Regarding my 350z, it is only a DE, so redline at 6600... Do you think I can raise the rev limit with no issues ? Anyway I rarely go that fast so even if Top speed is at 200 I wouldn't mind.
I believe that 4.36 is very short so If I was to go on the highway, instead of cruising in 5th, I'll do it in 6th

You can have the car tuned and raise the redline to 7000rpm.. but it won't make a difference if you're cruising, as you're not cruising at top speed. 4.36 makes your new 6th gear about as long as your old 5th, so whatever RPM you're at in 5th @ 100kph today will be about what 6th will be.
A revup has a stock redline of 7000, and that's a DE with a different plenum and slightly bigger cams. But the internals are the same. Is it safe? If the engine is fresh and well maintained, sure. But it won't make power past 6200rpm, so I wouldn't bother raising the redline.
