Engine bay fuse box help!
Trying to access the fuse box in the engine bay but these stupid screw plugs are stopping me from taking the cover off... How are you supposed to remove these? Nothing is working and don't want to break them off.
These are literally the worst... Plug held in by screws that just spin in the hole... Designed by Satan.

Those are simply blind plastic rivets that are easy to remove. Simply insert a phillips screwdriver into the center of the plug and turn counterclockwise until the center insert backs out. It expands out when down and will release pressure on the prongs as you back the center plug out. Use a flat bladed screwdriver to pull up one end of the plug and you'll find it pops out without breaking it. Those type of blind rivets are very useful fasteners...and can be reused multiple times if you're not ham handed. They were NOT designed by Satan.

Did my explanation make sense to you? It's hard to know if the advice we give out is working for the OP unless he responds to the thread. BTW- that "fuse box" you referred to is called the IPDM (Intelligent Power Distribution Module) and is well-protected for a reason.

I just went ahead and purchased a lot of 100 of them off EBay because I always manage to break them.
Sometimes it helps if you take a very small flat head screwdriver and sort of pry up on the center portion while you are unscrewing it.

No mate sorry. These just spin in the hole. They don't even loosen a bit. Had to pull them out by force and ended up braking most...

The trick is to not use much downward pressure as you unscrew the center pin. They won't unscrew if you use a lot of pressure. In any case, they're pretty cheap to get replacements.

The screws and corresponding threads are plastic. These are notorious for stripping out when over-tightened, making it all but impossible to back out again. I hate these things personally and prefer to use the OEM poppers that require a flat-head screwdriver to "pop" the center plunger up. Don't feel bad if you broke them. Those don't even appear to be Nissan Spec poppers. I've seen that type used a lot on Fords.
