If Nissan re-releases 350Z for limited time... would you by it?
 

For some kind of anniversary, lets say Nissan releases a limited amount of 350Z's as "Anniversary editions" or whatever, would you by one? Lets assume the following:

1) limited color choices : silver, black, and blue
2) based on lets say 2008 model with mid-upper range trim (track maybe?)
3) MSRP I want to say $25,000 considering its somewhat outdated especially modern conveniences
4) very little alterations or upgrades, maybe keyless ignition but thats about it. No blue tooth, MP3 support, nothing. Just radio and CD player like in the original models

Would you buy one?

My answer: **** yeah I would. I always prefered the 350z over the 370z. I dont like the visual redesigns they made for the 370z. I dread the day my 2004 350z finally bites the dust and I can't baby it to keep running anymore. Currently its at 144k miles and i baby the hell out of it.

I'd still get the silver color too.

Unfortunately no … not a re-released but mostly because of price and the reputation the car has dropped to.

I attended a Porsche Track Day event the other weekend and it was a blast. It solidified my desire to get a non to lightly-modified, NA, OEM Track or Nismo (likely a track due to cost and availability) to daily drive on occasion and to relentlessly thrash on a road course.

I don't know that I could do this to a new ~$25k car.

Well, as long as we're dreaming here, I'd buy a new Z33 with the following specs:

-FM platform given maximum lightening treatment- no undercoating or sound deadening.
-VQ35HR race tuned with simple, single outlet exhaust for maximum weight savings.
-Delete a/c, radio, rear window wiper & motor, as well as any other convenience items to save weight. .
-No VDC, traction control or other electronic nannies.
-Brembo brakes, Rays alloys and NISMO diff are standard features.

Only problem is, marketing would get involved and this kind of Z would end up costing at least $50K, right?

jk, no I wouldn't. I've thoroughly enjoyed my '06 ZR as a daily and now a weekend car. It runs very well at 107k, I even won 1st place in "Mild" Category at ZDAYZ 2 years ago.I think it was well thought-out, engineered and built. I'll prolly never sell it, just keep it pristine, in top-shape and just drive it less.

Besides, she'd look amazing sitting next to a '67 Baracuda.:thumbup:

I would, yes. Love this car and I’d keep the mileage as low as possible. Get another thrashed z and strip it down for say NASA spec z where all the cars are NA.

The Z33 is a better looking car than the Z34 isn't it? A real track model would be of interest not the pretend NISMO effort, something that does not require a virtual rebuild to make it fit for the track, yes please.

The problem is that they would feel compelled to make changes from the original. On the other hand, if you like the 350z so much why not just buy an original low mileage one? It may take some searching, but I bought a 2006 one owner touring roadster with 17k miles on it 2 years ago that was completely stock and like new.

yeah ... and if you want one with some modification (as defined by your personal taste) likely there will be one available

The z34 is growing on me I’m beginning to like them more but to be honest I think the z33 pre facelift looks better than 06-08 z33’s. The latter design revisions are minor albeit more suitable for a hr motor. Still I like the 03-05 best design wise and it was the launch design for the z33.

I would! My only ask would be a fixed/updated interior. The 06+ 350Zs with the Carbon interior have that horrible paint issue that drives me nuts. The major thing I like about the 370Z/Z34 is the improved interior. The 350Z has a lot more cheap plastic that creaks and squeaks and easily scratches. In terms of the Drive Train and exterior, not much to ask for, but a larger (3.5L) or higher output version of the VR30DDTT would be sweet.

Lighter, stiffer, more power no matter what version and it just runs away from its predecessor.

Today it's a cheap entry level sports car but not classical enough and too old to justify buying new.

If they would do a re-release of the S30 though, that would be something else. Yum!
