Oopsie, Low engine oil
So I just bought an '04 350z with less than 92K miles.
I check the oil hot once and saw it was all over the dipstick and looked "fine" <-- I'll eat those words
Checked it cold yesterday and it's just on the hook of the stick... Turns out that you really have to let these engines settle before you check the oil, who knew?(probably everyone but me lol)
Anyways it's about 3 qts low which means I was running on 2-2.5/3qts(not sure how well these drain) tops. (both valve cover gaskets leak so that's likely where some of it went)
I drove at least 140 miles like this. I can say that the oil pressure was fine there was no oil light and the engine did not even get remotely hot.....
But I have no idea what, if any, damage has been done or how long it's been that low.
She ran great but I'll just have to see I guess...
Has anyone else had this happen? If so, how well did it turn out long term? I noticed some other post but never saw a long term report on how they turned out.

Low oil doesn't hurt a thing until you get to the point of loosing pressure. Once you lose pressure, it hurts everything really quick.

I appreciate that article. I noticed it looked low on the second time I checked (yesterday morning) so I searched the forum and found your write-up which lead me to getting it filled up properly then posting this lol. So yeah, thanks!
