Hi guys, I’m 19 and trying to insure a 350z. Anything £4000 and below I can manage for this year. Not having great luck. I’ve had my license for 1 year 4 months now and have 1 claim. (Swerved last year for a rabbit :/) the most common quote I see is £10000+ but I’ve had some in the high £3-4000s. I can do under £4000. I’ve even tried with my dad as the main driver with me as an added driver and this ends up even more than if it was just me. He’s had no claims, license for 20 years etc. I get quoted £11000 for me and him.

This is is my dream car and I can afford it. I just need a quote of under £4K and I can be driving my dream vehicle. Any advice would be great. Thanks guys

so you are saying that it would cost $5027 us dollars to insure a car that is up to 16 years old? imho, i know you love the z, but something more reasonable would make more financial sense at this point

Let your mum/dad/uncle buy it and add it to their policy listing you as additional driver. Your rates will drop by 1/2 when you hit 25.

Hi Danny, I spent some months working in the UK a while back, and I still recall some of the conversations co-workers and I had about vehicle registration and insurance costs differences between the US and UK. One item in particular: I had two motorcycles in the US at that time, and my coworkers were incredulous when I referred to my 500cc bike as the "smaller" one. That was considered a very large engine in the UK for a motorbike and the tax and insurance pricing based were significantly higher based on displacements.

I appreciate that the 350Z is your dream car, but now may not be the time for it to be practical for you. Your age, the 3.5L displacement, and that it is a sports car are all conspiring against making this a choice you can afford at this time. I am facing this while pricing insurance rates for my soon-to-be-licensed-to-drive teenage son - we're trying to put him into the cheapest-to-insure but still safe car as possible, once the time comes. Until he turns 25, there's not much else he can do, either.

Hi Danny. I understand your dilemma. I planned giving a nephew my 350z. It seemed like a good idea until receiving the insurance quotes. The car is old, so there was no reason for collision insurance. However, the policy was still ridiculously high (even without collision) just for liability. The 350z has a high crash rate, and that affects the insurance rates.

The first time I read OP's post I immediately had flashbacks to the "Dugan" thread when he started mentioning the sky-high insurance rates even though he was "clean".

Because everyone in the insurance industry is an idiot? The 25 year old rule applies in every country? Because every parent wants to put their nest egg on the line when Johnny wants a sports car?

my son's titan pro X4's insurance is just over 400 per month on our policy. Can't imagine what he would pay on his own, or what ins would be if he had a Z
