do all Z's have orange peel?
I'm still waiting for delivery of my wife's Z, but have seen a few Zs up close. Both cars had a lot of orange peel. More than I've ever seen on a Japenese car. What are others seeing?

My Performance Super Black 350Z has no orange peal the cars paint job is flawless!:icon04:

my silverstone doesn't have any orange peel. VIN 915, maybe its just the 1st few hundred?

I have had my Z for only 10 days, but have washed it twice (both Saturday mornings), and looked at it for hours, and paint looks perfect to me.......

To awnser your question, yes, all Zs have orange peel. And o go even further, all new cars have it (well higher end Lexus LS has very little). Some people don't quite know how to spot it, because the topic was blown way out of proportion. Th Zs paint is comparable to a 330ci.

If you cock your head to the side and squint while you walk around with a light pointed at the paint you can see it in almost every color, however I have noticed it is much easier to see in the Blue, Red, and White. On my Silverstone it is extremely hard to tell. After Zaino all I see is glisten and gloss. The heavy metallic properties in the silverstone may conceal the "orange peel" effect better than most colors.

I think the fact that it's so difficult to spot leads to my conclusion that orange peel is no big deal. the way i spot it is to look at the difference between reflections off the paint and reflections off the glass. paint's not perfect. still looks good. most cars seem to have it. car paint typically has orange peel. cars still look good. done.

The peel on my Daytona Blue is not noticeable at all in bright sun light but very noticeable in most other lighting conditions. I would say more so than any car I've previously owned. However it does not yet have any wax on it. This weekend I plan to lay down at least 4 coats of Blackfire polymer. That may conceal it somewhat, or so I hope.

go look at high end mercedes, they have orange peel texture as it makes it a little harder to see dust build up... if you look at a high end paint job thats as smooth as glass you'll notice dust build up a lot quicker and easier..
|
I guess you may notice based more on the color of your car. I saw a black new T-bird the other day, and man it was peely!
|
Yeah its worse on bigger trucks and such. The reason for the "peel" is because of these new low-solvent, high solid clear coats they are using which are more enviromentaly freindly. They thicker and drip more in the curing process. But theese new clear-coats are much more durable and easy to care for.
