Everyone else posted so I figured I might as well jump in also!:D

I'm betting the points system is a motivator for increasing posts so the new ownership can show higher site traffic and get higher advertising rates from sponsors. That would also tie in with the idea of earned points enabling you to buy avatars and the like as well - another incentive to get you to visit the site more.

That is a good thought Sanderman. It does inevitably lead to that. In the meantime, looks like it will take forever for me to buy anything. Give me good rating......please. :p

Then how is it that my thread which gained the greatest number of views (12158) and posts (179) still gives me such a low total? :mad:

I think this point system just started with the new threads/posts and doesn't count older ones.

Actually, the original Vin Soup thread has the lead with number of posts (221), and the Keep the Soup Cooking thread is 3rd with 185.

The Leno thread is 4th in posts, but blows away the field with the number of views.

Not that anyone is counting... :D

I believe the only way to get points is if people vote for you, they can also disagree and take points away. The points can be used later to buy special things such as a unique color for your name or other ways to make your signiyure fun.
