store CD's in empty nav slot?

For those of you who have your car or have tried this, can you store a soft-sided CD storage case in the empty nav slot? If not, where are you storing your CD's?

No, the only place to put cd's are the two little fold down compartments behind each seat (and the one large one). They dont fit well in the center console but a cd will not even fit in the nav area.

I use the compartment behind the passenger seat for my CD's, Dig camera and other stuff. You can of course load 6 CD's into the player so I only change CD's about once a week. The NAV space...well I just leave it closed

The non-Bose system has an in-dash 6 disc changer?

j's350z Sep 25, 2002 09:02 AM

NO

I'm sorry - I guess that's one advantage of the Touring and didn't read the orginial post carefully. The Bose actually sounded good
today, even the radio. I can't figure it out????????

WashUJon Sep 25, 2002 09:41 AM

Thanks for the clarification, Bill. I wonder why those Bose systems are getting so many complaints. I know they are a bit overrated and over priced, but I do think their home entertainment systems sound pretty good. (just not for the exorbitant amount of money that retailers charge)

BILL T Sep 25, 2002 09:53 AM

I've got the Bose surround sound at home and I like it fine. In my daughter's Acura the Bose is fine. In the Z when it's bad it's gosh awful bad (the radio) so I put in a CD. But the radio's not consistantly bad...go figure. Otherwise it's a GREAT car and I don't want people to shy away from the Z just because of the radio that has a mine of it's own.

Both of my parents have Bose systems in their cars (from the factory). One is an Acura and the other is an Infinity and I think they sound pretty good. They're not the BEST, but they definitely sound good. Is the problem with the Z's Bose system the "automatic" adjuster or something"?

BILL T Sep 25, 2002 10:26 AM

The up and down volume is part of the problem but not all. I listen to it pretty loud and don't notice the up an down volume at all unless I turn it pretty low. The worst part is a booming you get a certain times - I not talking about a crisp bass sound but more of a resonating loud fuzzy base sound that drown out any and all treble. It's kind of like you sticking your head in a base drum and having 3 drummers do their stuff but only all 3 drummers are out of sinc with each other.

Alternative uses for nav compartment?

any suggestions on what the empty nav compartment can be used for? A video monitor (that'll be safe!), equalizer, mp3 player, etc?

As it is, the compartment is pretty shallow and not useful for storage. Is there additional depth behind it so that it can be removed and replaced with a deeper housing?

Or is it just dead space?

Try this:http://www.firsthawaiimall.com/miva/...egory_Code=NHD

LOL. Those dolls are cool. But I'd prefer to put mine on the dash, next to the fur dice hanging from the windshield, or on top of the rear strut brace where everyone can see.

Nothing screams class like a hula!!
But seriously you can stick a GPS with remote ant. as someone has done if you try the search function. A small monitor, maybe
plasma would work well in there but I don't watch much TV in my car....Hey! for some real fun if you know a married couple that has a non-nav Z and the wife is getting ready to take it somewhere put someone elses bra or panties in there but let a little stick out. Of course don't try this on Redline Z's from Courtland.
