Wow, I can't believe it worked.
I am now at 2975 miles, keeps getting better and better. Waiting for the clear side markers, ordered them on 9/20. Will do the 2nd oil change at 4k miles, will probalby wait until 7k before switching to Mobil 1. |
Sweet!
Tires look very nice. |
I feels great. These tires get really soft once warmed up, I can see why some say I will only get 10k out of them. They have phenomenal grip, soo good.
The circumference increased, yes, but it was minimal. A 1% drop in RPM's. I love my car!!!:icon04: |

What is the aspect ratio of those S03's? Why the switch to S03's so early?? I could see after the stockers wore out. Don't tell me it's because you needed more grip. I spent all day stomping around a racetrack in 105 degree plus heat and the 040's were fine.
|
What size you use in the front tire.
|
Looks nice, but too much like stock wheels for my taste.
|
dc,
Thanks for the pics. Looks good. :) outsider, Those are the stock wheels. Steve, So, the 040's held up to your liking at the track? Do you think another brand/model tire would add substantially more grip? JD |
I also had the 040's stock on my MR2 Spyder before switching to the 03's. While the S03 is slightly better, there is nothing fundamentally wrong with the 040's. Certainly not enough to justify replacing them before they are worn thoroughly.

Sounds like he went with 255-45-18 if he went bigger Diamiter. the 255-45s are 27" O.D. and the stock 245-45s are 26.7" O.D. the difference would be hardly noticeable. The hot thing to do is to use 255-40s, their O.D. is 26.1" so fatter, smaller O.D., marginally lighter, and lowers your car a bit too! :D on the fronts go from the stock 225-45s (O.D. 25.9) to 245-40s(O.D. 25.6) for the same benifits. These sizes still fall within the manufacturers safe recomended range for wheel width on the stock rims(8" front, 8.5 rear) the other nice thing about it is the front tires goes up 2 widths while ther rear goes up one, putting a bit more grip in the front should help make the car a bit more neutral, have fun!:D
