Valet parking, Z's worst enemy
Do yourselves a favor ppl. If you already have your Z, or will have one soon, do not, under any circumstances let a valet park it. This is coming from a former valet from NYC. I worked some high end places in my time. And let me tell you, the things we did with fast cars would make your Silverstone shaded heart bleed. We raced anything with more than 200 ponies. We would peel out in the middle of Manhattan and race each other to the parking lot. We put cars head to head and drag-raced them. We had Vipers going against Ferraris, M3's going against AMG's. And this is something that goes on virtually everywhere there's a valet, trust me on this. I used to have many valet friends, and not only from NYC. So now that I'm not a lowly valet anymore 
, I park my car myself, or just tip the guy well so he keeps it upfront and doesn't screw with the car.

just this pass weekend i gave a valet 10 bucks parked my car myself at a club.
the attendent had to be talked into it even though i gave him 10 dollars. so i dont dought for a min what your saying

I once dated a guy that was a valet, and he would constantly tell me about cars he raced or ragged on in some way or another. Since then, I don't let anyone park my car but me.

I worked valet parking cars one summer during college at a pretty high end restaurant in New Jersey. I can remember once almost putting the back end of a new Vette (It was 1987) into Raritan Bay while doing reverse donuts in a gravel parking lot. We also used to play our own game of Tug-o-war. We would put two cars together nose to nose and on the count of ten, floor it. Whoever's bumper crossed the line won. When someone would ask us to take care of their car, we would just abuse it more.
It's 15 years later and I've never valet parked any of my cars.

ok I know they didn't exactly baby cars but this is crazy! All these stories from NYC area. Any people know the bad places to Valet in Boston?
I've done it a couple times. When I get my Z there's no way I'm valeting.

Valets aren't a Z's worst enemy if: a) the valet owns a Z himself, or b) the owner of the establishment owns a Z.
One time, at band camp, I was about to park my 300 way out in BFE at a restaurant when the valet runs up to me and tells me that he owned a 300 also and couldn't stand the thought of my doors getting dinged so he let me park in his prime valet spot.
Then, this past Sat night, I went to a 300 gathering at a club that is co-owned by a fellow 300 owner and the valet(s) parked all the Z's in the front row (Porsches, S2000's, NSX's, etc. were parked way out back). Guess which Z got the most looks?

Heh, off the topic of this thread, but, I always thought BFE was a California expression...interesting to see it's use in Texas.
For those who don't know, BFE means very very far away, or more specifically, in the middle of nowhere. The acronym, stands for Butt-fu*kin Egypt....but I'm not so sure why.

In High School I had a friend who worked part time as a Valet. Sometimes he would take out cars for a spin....Well he took a customers Vette out, and raced another friend who owned a z28. The Vette was winning when he wrapped it around a Telephone pole. Try explaining that to the owner.....and yes he did serve some jail time I think it was around 9 months.

we're the hell can you drag race in Manhattan...... streets are packed at all ours, traffic light every hundred feet. pedestrians everywhere...... these Vallet Parkers must have put up their invincibility shields

don't worry about valet parking yoru cars at vegas casinos, trust me the attendents are so busy running around they park it hop out and go get the next car, also from many people i've talked to in casinos here your on security camera and if the head of the casino valet or the operations manger catches your *** it'll be quite hard for you to get a job in vegas again. My friend knows fomr experiance.

Haha...No wonder everytime I pass by valet parking, those dudes keep staring at the car.....any valet parking on Boston! I swear, valets are the quickest to spot my Z and they even point at it....And while I am passing by they are thinking "Pull right in ...cmon pull right in" all the while I am thinking "You are not playing with this one!" as I pass by...

hmmm.
Anyhow, Valet obuse is no secret unless you are either naive or plain dense. I'm so paranoid I wouldn't even let valet park my 85 tercel hatchback with the rust "coloration" before i sold it. The one time i did let valet park my truck, I stood there and watched until the guy actually parked it in the spot.

There's also drags on West End Ave in the Washington Heights area. Cops know this so don't expect to find one so easily. Plus, you don't need a 1/4 mile strip. 1/8 mile works too. Unless you live in Manhattan and are about between midnight and dawn, you won't see any of this going on.
