The Port Lockout Continues into it's 5th Day

Just found this article on MSNBC about the Port Lockout. It looks grim at the moment. I bet my friggin car is floating around on a ship in the Pacific!!!

Unions. When will the American population learn how damaging they are to the consumer market. Their function has long since become obselete in our modern-day economy.

glad i've had my car for a month now...

don't have to worry about this strike crap...heard those guys make from $60,000 to $100,000 a year...sorry to those who haven't got their car this sucks...

nwind21 Oct 3, 2002 11:54 AM

Yeah... I don't know the whole pro/con of the unions since I've never belonged to one (or need to). I'm kinda in the boat where if you don't like where you work, you always have the option of leaving.

But it is rather discouraging that this lock-out is affecting so many businesses and already so many other jobs are being threatened. Personally this whole lock-out, dock worker strike seems rather selfish... correct me if I have the wrong impression...

I just saw an article that Amazon.com might be threatened by this lock-out too. Ergh... :icon8:

Z Deliveries Should be O.K.

I spoke to a rep from NNA yesterday about this since I'm expecting mine to be delivered in 2 weeks. He said the ships have made it in. Mine is actually on land in Cali! Yeah!

So, if you're expecting your car in the next few weeks there probably won't be any delay due to the strikes.:icon4:

Thanks for the good news BigZ! Hopefully my car is in the same batch with yours. Was the NNA rep able to track your car by the VIN# and give you status?

I'm in the same boat with you guys, my car is here in port. However, what if your car gets final assembly at the port, like say an aero kit?? Will that be done now, or after the lockout? Does anyone know?

Grrrr.....my car is SOOO on one of those damn boats....just my luck...[big middle finger to Mr. Murphy]

Options to now be installed at dealer

I've been told by NNA, that to resolve the delays caused by port installation of options they have decided to just ship the Z's and have the dealer install the options. This is recent to my understanding.

I don't know if all the Z's won't have the options installed or when they arrive or not.. but he said he figured most of us would rather have an early delivery than wait the additonal time.

Zay, I don't know what he used to look mine up since they have everyone's name on record.

My vin is xxx3236

Well, I was told by my dealer that mine would arrive on the 14th of this month. So I was figuring it would be affected by this lockout. But, I got a call couple days ago that my Z arrived and was ready for pickup. So, for those expecting a mid october delivery, you never know what might turn up.

Question, not a statement:

I thought I read somewhere on this forum that the cars bound for dealerships in the eastern half of the U.S. went into Houston, Jacksonville, Newport News and Port Elizabeth? If so, then us folks in Texas shouldn't be impacted by the west coast situation?
