The Best Product I've Bought To Protect My 350z -- Clear Bra --
Have you seen the clear bra protection for your 350Z? You probably haven't considering it's virtually invisible. I was introduced to this product from a co-worker who had the clear bra installed on his new RX-8. This product is something I would recommend to anyone who cares about preventing the inevitable rock chips that you get from simply driving your car. It definitely beats putting an old black bra on your car! I even found a local company here in Orange County, CA. that will come to your home to install the product! The price is reasonable considering the alternative, re-painting your front end every year! If you haven't heard of this product, and you care about the look of your car, you need to check this out!

The regulars here are well aware of clear bras but glad to see a new guy wanting to share!
|
Is this a do it your self project or should it be professionally installed. How much does the bra itself cost, etc?
|
Let the pros install it. If something goes wrong, they replace it without any cost to you. If you mess up the install, then you'll have to pay for a new clear bra kit. As for price, it depends on the coverage you want for the car. I paid ~$530 for full frontal protection which includes the front bumper, lip, partial hood, and side mirrors.

Sounds like an advertisement... I mean, come on, the guy's first post ever is about the clear bra? And its written so business-like.
Or maybe I'm wrong and the guy just has a huge boner over the clear bra. |
Actually, Mr. "Jetpilot",
I'm new to this forum thing and think this product is great and since I had never heard of it before last week I thought many other people were unaware of it. People who are in business tend to type business like, something you may not be familiar with. |
And now we take you to a serious question....
For all you guys that have the clear paint protection on the front facia, how many pieces did it take to cover the nose? I'm being told 5 by one installer. Sounds like there would be some pretty visible seam lines that way. I know this stuff isn't super-moldable, but 5 pieces? |

This sounds like a sound investment to protect my pride and joy which is on order and should be with me from july 1st.I live near Cambridge in England and cant seem to find anyone that supplies and fits this product.I have just sold my blue golf r32 and one of the main problems was the ease at which the front end seemed to be chipping.I am getting a silver 350z which should be a bit more forgiving on the stone chip front but i would be gratefull if anyone can give me any help locating a supplier/fitter.
Thanks great forum Darren |
Darren,
I contacted the company who did the installation of the product for me and they gave me this website for you. I looked at it and it appears to be a company in your area that does install the "clear bra". http://www.secureonlineshopping.biz/paintshield/ |
Originally posted by WayneTN Hey, that first sentence is a run-on sentence, and the second sentence ends in a preposition. Also, "businesslike" is one word and not two words. You must be using the new business rules I've been hearing about. j/k Welcome to the forum. WayneTN |

One peice covers the nose. one peice covers 18" of the front of the hood. Installed it on my 03 on day one. Not a single chip yet after 19 months. Agreed, best investment. 530 sounds very cheap for a professional install. Mine cost almost 2x. Was it 3m film? I got front bumper, lights, mirrors, behind door handles, and around fuel filler opening.

Clearbra's are pretty well known here.
I have the 3M Clear Bra, Bumper and headlights. Because the front bumper paint sucks, if you dont Clear bra your bumper it's 100 percent chance you'll have a sandblasted bumper riddled with paint chips. The 3M kit is 2 pieces. one for the top of the bumper , the other covers the bar at the bottom of the Grill. It cost me 300 out the door. You can barley see it. Only on a close look. I highly recommend it. |
I have read in the detailing section that someone after a year has started to see discoloring on the clear bra, is this happening to anyone else?
|
Just a quick message to say a big thankyou for the website link for the clear bra.I will be purchasing one of these for my z when it arrives in july. These firms need to advertise themselves a bit more as i and many friends are car nuts but didnt know these clear bras existed untill now.I only knew about the big black covers that kinda ruin the lines of the car.Anyway thanks again for the link.

I have the clear bra on my front bumper and don't even know it is there. I have to point it out to people when I show them the car. I got the front bumper and headlights done and it was $300. The guy came to my house and did it in my garage. He was highly recommended in some of the forums. He said he has done about 100 Zs. He did it about 1 1/2 hours and really seemed to know what he was doing.
He could of also done the front hood which is a piece that comes up to the top of the headlights and the side mirrors for an extra $300. I just went with the front bumper and am very happy that I did it. |
Anyone installed a clear bra after you get the chips? I've had the car for over a year and the front end looks like swiss cheese but I'm considering gettin a clear bra. Would it work or would it be all screwed up because the bumper is no longer smooth?

Mine's been on for 19 monthesand is as clear as on day 1. absolutely no yellow/fade/discolor. Only chip free paint.
