Opinons: Which is the Best Car Magazine?
What's is the best automotive magazine on the market right now? Car and Driver? Road and Track? Any others? I dont have a subscription to any, but would like to? Any suggestions in concerns of info, layout, articles, cars talked about?

If you're not sure... go to Tower Records magazine rack, they should carry Evo (that's where I normally get my copy from).

Car and EVO are very similar, I've always liked Sports Car International, well writen, and only deals with performance cars (who doesn't skip over the borring stuff in R&T/C&D)

R&T the best
Car magazines? I get them all. Road and Track is the best. I would rate Motor Trend next. Car and Driver is good but way too opinionated and less objective IMHO. Automobile is very "high brow". Auto Week is good for the latest news.

motor trend is bad (too many trucks)
Automobile is OK, but they don't pick winners.
R&T is definatly getting better. Has great pictures (large format), and cut away diagrams.
C&D is my favorite I have every issue for the last 10 years.
I get at least 6 different car magazines a month, but I could live with just C&D and R&T.
A good one that is not well known is sports car International. They don't actually test any cars for speed, but they only do sports cars so you don't have to look at trucks every other article.

My personal and very subjective ranking
R&T
MT
C&D
I get all three, but my preference these days is R&T. I seem to get most out of it. Info seems more in depth and reviews most useful. MT is not far behind. C&D just seems to aim at a different demographic then me. More luxury sport then sport.
But I read all three and anything else I can get my hands on. I'm really not that picky

SportsZ
I have been reading car mags since i was 12 and I am now 55.
The big mags are more interested in making their sponsors happy and likewise the big Car Manufacturers like GM, Ford , BMW, etc. Their writers and test drivers are over paid yes men who kow tow to their publishers. IMHO the best up and coming mag is SportsZ.
They are honest and still in touch with their readers.
They are my pick hands down!
One Man's Opinion!!

I agree with you archduke, all the mainstream mags are a joke, because they are scared to give true opinions especially on the products of the Big Three, their main source of advertising income.
I like Evo and I also like Top Gear - now they give opinions and not scared to go against the common consensus.

as long as they keep it real unlike the other car mags where its getting harded and harder to read between the lines.

Here are my favorites:
1. Max Power (cool cars and naked girls, it doesn't get any better than that!)
2. Super Street
3. Import Tuner
4. Turbo
Hopefully, I'll get a subscription to SportZ soon.

ps #4 serves me JUST as a confirmation to what they say in 1-3 regarding when cars are comming out cuz they TRULY suck bad time. And yes I noticed that they favor BMW and Corvettes too much........well theyre actually the benchmarks for sports cars

British CAR magazine and EVO are the best car mags out there. They got great articles and photography. The best thing is that they don't pull any punches on any of their car reviews.
I guess the only draw back about these British mags is that some their info is only European and British centric.
