How's the car now that you've put some miles on?
I just hit 1900 miles, about 3 weeks into ownership. I'm pleased to say that the car is even better now. It really comes to life after you finish your break in. There's a whole other world on the high side of 4000 rpm. I just took the car out for a 90 min drive out and about the streets of New Haven. I didn't feel like sleeping so I figured a little drive would do nicely.
Some observations The stick seems to lose some of it's notchiness as time goes by. The 1-2 shift, which always seemed a little slow, is a little easier. I actually like the vibrations, reminds you that you're driving a machine. Redline is a dream, very smooth all the way to the peak, and then an easy shift to top it off. I know there's been a lot of talk about how the Z doesn't have that "seat of the pants" feel that the Z32 did. I totally don't agree, this car really pushes, and pushes hard. I want to get a video of the car on the run, but it really doesn't seem safe to do 2 things at once. Even the Bose, I'm starting to get used to. It seems the system opens up a little with use. Also, as long as you play CDs at 12 or higher, and never slow down or stop, it's okay. You still need to turn the bass down a little. I just put up a video in my gallery of me starting up the Z. It's not the best quality, and believe me, it sounds much better in real life, but it's a start. |
