i'm back in the good 'ol USA. what to get next?
hey everyone i am back from iraq! hey that rhymes! lol anyway, i ordered a few things while i was gone. i bought a v4 plenum and unorthodox racing pulley set. also from a cosmetic standpoint i bought the autotecknic CF eyelids and varis oill filler cap w/CF insert. anyway, i am going to make a big purchase very soon, here is what i am contemplating:
1. vortech SC(polished) @$4600 or... 2. willwood big brake kit plus kinetix cats or... 3. cusco zero1 or zero2 coilovers, cusco strut tower bar and cusco front and rear sway bars or 4. possibly options 2 and 3 together right now, i am leaning towards option 2 and possibly option 4. btw, the CF eyelids fit really good, they go well with my CF lip mod. i stll have to install the pulleys and plenum. as soon as i install them i'll post my opininions. |
Welcome home. Glad you are back safe.

option 4 is the way to go.
Welcome home. |
there's a new Vortech in the classifieds for $4k even... that's my vote...

Zealous,
Welcome back. I like your current setup. I am thinking about getting some of the enkei rims like yours. Does it rub? The car in the pic, is it lowered? Did you get it at discount tire store? Also, did you install the front lip yourself? If so, how. Thanks, Tony |

Thanks, Tony i did install my front lip, it was a cinch. first make sure that the area where the 3m tape will stick is clean. i used a cotton ball and some rubbing alcohol. pull the backing of the 3m tape half way then crease it over the lip (towards the front) so that it can be grabbed later. line up the lip, once you have verified that the lip is correctly placed pull the rest of the tape off and press the lip against the vehicle. it would be best to have a friend help. |
Zealous,
I called discount tire direct and asked about the lip size. Customer rep told me its just a 1.5 inch the rear. Is that correct? I inquire about the same size as yours? Can you tell me what lip size for the front and back? I am assuming yours is Anthracite Machined and not silver machine. What do you think would be better for a CS color? Also, does it fit the wheel well (fill the gap)? I am assuming it fits much better than the stock 17" stock rims . Thanks, Tony |

this is what i decided on so far: ordered the wilwood 14" 6 piston front and 14" 4 piston rear brake kit. kit comes with goodridge SS brake lines. total cost $3500. i did it more for aethetics reasons than performance. i want to build a show quality car, not just any shows but ones that get press coverage. big brakes get noticed before the hood is ever opened, that is the way i look at it. plus, i felt that i should put more miles on my engine before going FI, i only have 5500 miles. i know i have a long way to go but i have done quite a bit in the seven months i have owned my Z. also, i ordered the cusco strut tower bar and this http://www.jcwsportcompact.com/autop...p-7621/c-10102
i am thinking of ordering the cusco front and rear sways, kinetix cats and the varis CF air duct next. i think i will hold off on the cusco zero1 or zero2 coilovers for now. i'll make up my mind soon. |
vitaminZ,
I have one more questions for you regarding the wheels. With the enkei/tires combo, do you feel its much heavier with the car than the old stock? In the past, I remember when I added custom wheels it would "feel" slower. Is this the case in the Z? I assume it handles much better than stock... I priced the set with Nitto tires. It came out to be around 1600 something. That is with the tire valve. Can the stock nut fit the enkei, or do you have to get their own nuts. Thanks, Tony |

Thanks, Tony https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=61623 Handling is definately better. i noticed no sluggishness in my acceleration. the stock lug nuts should fit since the wheels have caps and hide a more open area compared to a wheel with exposed lug holes. if i remember right the openings are of average size. my order came with a free set of gorilla lug nuts, you should look into that. |

When you said the wheels are flush with the fender line. No rubber sticking pass the vendor? I am saving the cash so I can buy it in a few months. Tony |
