My Z's First Oil Change
Well, Today... I took my car into Douglas Nissan in Vegas, First I just want to start by saying, Douglas Nissan did an AWSOME job with my car. I had no appointment or anything, I drove my car into the service garage... told the guy I was here for my first oil change. He said "Great!" I asked him how long it would take, He said "Do you have your keys? (I handed him my keys) and said Your up!"
Now, as for my oil change. I pulled into the service garage at 3100 miles. As soon as it was done and I was leaving.... all I could think was "WOW!!" my shifts were SOOOO MUCH smoother!! omg, it was like driving a whole different car! I was soo amazed! Has this happend to anyone?, after their first oil change notice a major difference in the performace. they even did the change right there in front of me and i had a look under my car walked around it. no one said anything ( i was expecting them to tell me that i couldnt be there due to insurance reasons and all that). I got out my camera phone and took some pics of my first oil change. (I would post them, but im sure you guys wouldnt be THAT interested in seeing them lol). Another thing that I loved about douglas nissan is that they lift they used. its not the ones with forks that lift the car by the frame. This one they drive the car onto and lift it. Makes me feel better knowing my car wont fall off the lift or anything like that. And less chance of them ripping off a side skirt or splash guard. Anyways, that was my first oil change! |
Glad your so happy about it. I usually go over to Planet Nissan off the 95 because there facility is less crowded and brand new. They have free pop corn and water in the break room. What's neat is they have a window cut out so you can watch your car getting worked on. I live on the east side of town though and tomorrow I will be taking my car to United Nissan to get the squeaking brakes fixed and the plastic pocket broke on my drivers seat. I'm about due for my next oil change at 7,000 miles and I will probabley take it to Planet Nissan again.

I live 3 miles from planet nissan... I would actually rather goto united nissan and spend the extra 20 miles... They (planet nissan) have nice people there there and all, but they scratched my car when i took it in for my window air leak problem (which btw after 4 take-in still isnt fixed)

I think I'm going to take my Z to Douglas for its first oil change. I bought my Z over at Desert Nissan and I just despise that place. I don't trust their service department what so ever... The only reason I go is because they are the closest to my house. After hearing your story, I can't wait to take in my Z for her first oil change... It'll be sweet to have her run even smoother.

Dropped my Z off at United Nissan this morning and was very scared.
The service advisor was this big dude with tattoos all over him and wasn't friendly. When he found out that the previous service advisor didn't enter my info correctly he said what a ****1ng b!tch. Then black dood hops in my car and the service advisor was like don't go anywhere yet. Anyway he said they would call me at 3 and let me know what's going on. I'm praying that there are no scratches or anything. I should of went to Planet Nissan. :( |
well i got my first oil change today as well. I did notice the shifts seems smoother.. but how is that when the engine oil does have anything to do with the tranny or does it? Oh yea engine idles better as well!

I gotta get my oil changed soon too. Im at 2600 miles right now and I should change it before the vegas trip. I hope I have a easy time at the dealer during the oil change.

Hmmm, I changed my oil the 1st time today (used castrol GTX...usually I use Mobile1 Synth. but was told non-synthetic should be used for the first few changes; what kind of oil is everyone else using? Anyway, I also installed a Fumoto oil drain valve...high quality product would recomend if anyone is interested.

When I got my first oil change 3 weeks ago, I noticed that the engine felt stronger and the shifts were consequently better... but I came up the a different conclusion. You are supposed to change your oil after 3,750 miles/3 months, which ever comes first right?
Well I got myself a 2003 350Z with build date of 05/2003. I didn't take delivery of my car until 6/12/2004. I DON'T think the dealership changed out the original oil and that means that for my break-in (yikes!), I've been using 13 months old oil. Mine is an extreme example but I'm sure most people don't get their car until months after it is actually manufactured in Japan. Does anyone know if the dealer is "supposed" to change out the oil as part of a "new car delivery protocol"? My .02 |
I did my third oil change on my own the other day. I changed over to Mobil 1 synthetic 15W-50. It was really easy to do (I like where everything is located) but I couldn't believe how small our oil filter was.

Changed it at exactly 3,741 miles.
I picked up delivery on 6/12/2004 with 41 miles on it and 05/2003 production date. 3,741 miles and 14 months for the oil. |
hey i change my own oil and use Mobil 1 synthetic 15W-50. I think Mobil 1 synthetic is the best motor oil for a 350z
