Z's watch out for SUV's

Fellow 350Z members, you are forewarned of SUV drivers who could care less if you are in the lane they are changing into.

I was almost side-swiped twice today, both by big SUV's.

Does this happen to anyone else driving a Z?

And whats up with the cheezy a$$ horn the Z has. Sounds so gay!

bigredc77 Aug 9, 2004 02:29 PM

Happens all the time, but not just with SUVs. It seems that people don't look anymore before changing lanes, dumba**es. Just be happy you don't have to put your Z through LA traffic. SUVs are everywhere here.

Have you installed this horn in your Z? Any pics of the install?

zand02max Aug 9, 2004 03:37 PM

Yea, I wanna know what the volume increase is also.

It happened to me last time on the way home to my parents house.... I couldn't even hear my horn, forget the the other guy.

Years ago I learned to drive as though I was invisible when on a motorcycle; not a bad approach in any vehicle.

My philosophy is to assume everyone on the road is an idiot.

Not far from the truth.

Some guy in a mercedes SUV was acting the man yesterday, he wanted to do 90 in a 35 (and he did) and then ran a red light from the outer lane to turn right (cutting infront of me) I've almost seen it all now

Unless they are in a Z!!:icon11:

No that are some real idiots driving Z's too..............

If you drive in someone's blind spot in a Z, you're asking to get creamed. It's just a hazard that's part of the game. I make a conscious effort to always drive at peoples front quarter panel, not their rear QP.

The SUV hazard is no more their fault than it is ours.

"Why do you have to own such a big-@$$ SUV? You can't see a damn thing in those!" will always be met with, "Well, why do you have to own such a little sports-car? If you drove a bigger car, I'd be able to see you."

I just stay out of their way. That's what the 300 HP is good for!

Someone taught me this a long time ago; And although I don't do it, I think he is absolutely correct. "If you are in traffic and want to cut someone off, look for a late model flashy car. They'll always slow down, because they baby their cars. On the other hand someone in a 88 honda accord won't give a rats ***. In fact he or she may look upon you running into them as a money maker"

I got cut off by a blue mustang GT just this morning. The guy had merged into a left lane, I was in the center. I know he saw me though. Just did it to be an A$$.

Or someone driving a 1978 F350 dually that's been repainted machinery gray with a roller (that'd be me). People in nice cars will run up on sidewalks to get out of your way. Heh, heh.

Seriously, I try to drive carefully, but there is truth to the notion that people are more likely to try to intimidate someone driving a nice car than they are someone driving a big old piece of junk that probably isn't insured (mine is, but people don't know that).

I just got back from a vacation. Along the way was an extremely disturbing scene. We were driving along the Arizona highway and here comes a car on OUR side going the WRONG WAY! He was doing around 70 mph, probably drunk off his @$$. We BARELY missed him, all we saw was a red blur. I looked through the rear window (I wasn't the one driving the car) and a few seconds later he SMASHES INTO ANOTHER CAR on the highway!!! (head on collision, both were going at least 70 mph)
Was extremely disturbing to say the least as all you could see was two twisted cars sling up into the air. The two cars smashed together with such force that the victims' car's doors literally slung open. We narrowly missed death by a couple of seconds. Everyone stay safe. :(
I pray for the people who's lives are probably changed forever by that drunk idiot. This just goes to prove that SUV's aren't the only hazards.

Where in AZ? I am from there originally. Man..**** like this happens so much. ****in' drunks. Glad to hear you are ok dude.

KrazY-2K Aug 14, 2004 11:19 AM

I was more towards Gallup, New Mexico. I was about 1 mile from the Arizona / NM border when this happened yesterday, still on the Arizona side. I'll be looking for news on this, as I have yet to hear how the three victims are doing. :(

Down here you can't be defensive...you gotta be offensive.
