Not missing the S2K
I was in the local Honda dealer the other day checking out a Civic SI for my wife. The dealer had a new S2000 in the show room, and I meandered over to take a look. Last fall I traded in a 2001 S2000 for my 350Z, wich was a tough decision for me at the time. As I stood there looking over the S2K, I realized how little I missed my old one. Don't get me wrong, the Honda was a great car and a thrill to drive. In fact it's probably almost even with the Z in terms of performance (assuming a practiced driver), but for me, the Z is so much more enjoyable to drive. The S2K always took so much effort to drive fast, by comparison the Z is effortless. Large large amounts of power are always a down shift away, where as it usually took 2 or 3 with the S2K. I even like the Z better in the corners. The break away is so much more progressive and even. Additionally, I never feel like the back end is going to fly away on me. The Honda was much less predictable and occasionally scary, you just never knew when the back end was going to come out (I hear the revised version is improved in this area). Bottom line, I liked the Honda, I love the Z.
