So after all this time, do Z's still have uneven tread wear???
I've been away for a while but the last time I looked into getting a 350z, people on this board were complaining of uneven front tire wear or something funky going on with the factory allignment/camber setting and how they said Nissan was not willing to admit to it or do a recall. So what's the deal now? Is this still going on? Do the new cars still have this problem? Anything else I should look out for that still wasn't fixed after a year since I was last on here? This may be in a post somewhere but nothing came up from the search. Thanks in advance.

I have a June 2004 built 2004.5 model. I only have 1100 miles on it since purchased in August. I guess time and more mileage will tell if it is truly better or not.

Originally posted by Zcarboy I too have a June built date and picked up at end of Aug and now have 700 miles. Too soon for me to know about the tire wear. I dont' even know what miles I should be checking it out for. |

Yes, still feathering problems.
I got my fronts replaced at 9,000 and now at 18,500 I will be getting new fronts again as soon as they come in. Had it aligned at the dealer a couple of times also Mine is a 2003 with a 10/02 build date. It sure would be nice to get a real fix soon, I'm not sure if they will give me another set after this. |
I've also got a 2004.5..tires replaced at about 8000 miles. I have 14000 miles now and just noticed feathering starting again. Going by the dealer today to have them take a look....

Going by the dealer today to have them take a look.... The RE040's are DIRECTIONAL tires. Make sure they were installed in the correct orientation to rotation. ALSO, make sure you are running the recommended cold tire pressures of 35PSI front and back. I have over 8000 miles and my tires look brand new. I definately do not baby this car when it comes to takin some nice turns. |
I'm checking that stuff all the time. My first set were really bad and the noise would drown out the stereo it was so loud. Don't have that noise yet but just noticed it's starting to feather again. Tires are installed correctly, was alligned by Nissan and tire pressure is 35 cold....
