350Z's heater...brrrr
 

Since it is getting colder outside in the mornings here I have noticed that the heater sucks.

It works great when the car is moving around, and then when you get to a stop...BAM!!! Cold air cold air cold air!!!!!!! It drives me nuts, no matter what setting I have it on. I have even noticed that if you have it on recycle air, with the AC light on, on 90 degrees it is colder than outside air, no AC light and 90 degrees.

Anyone know what is going on here with the heater? It is annoying having to fool with it all the time turning it off at a light turning it back on when in movement.!!

Mine doesn't do that. YOu should get the dealer to check it out, that should be under warranty.

yeah.. car only takes time to heat up.. once it does.. its fine. My only complaint is the auto system doesn't do anything until the air is really heated up.. I'd take semi-warm air over the cold still air!

You might have a termostat issue

definately take the car in cause overall i think the heater works great. only thing is like flynnibus said i dont like how it waits untill everything is warm before it kicks in. sometimes when its 10 degrees out 40 degree air still feels warm enough.

but once it fires up, man its nice and warm. heats the cabin up quickly too.

by chance have you ever opened the cooling system, like to put in a nismo thermostat? If thats the case you could have an air bubble in the system. I did, and that was the same symptom, cold at idle, but when the water pump was flowing, I got hot air.

there is a bleeder value at the back passenger side of the engine bay. Its a black plastic screw on top of a coolant hose. If you are looking from the front.. its about 10 o'clock on the plenum.

Open the radiator cap, then open the bleeder screw. Add coolant slowly until the bleeder overflows, then close the bleeder screw. If you can't get the bleeder to overflow, squeeze the hose until the bleeder overflows, hold the hose, then close the bleeder before letting air come back in. Then go back and make sure coolant is at the neck of the radiator cap, and check your resevior tank.

there is a bleed valve just inboard of the battery on the passenger side, under a green cap. when you refill the radiator, you are supposed to remove it, then replace it when the fluid starts to come out. But, as its the high point in the system, you can open it and let out any trapped air.

Yeah, it sounds like you should check out the heating system. The Z has a really small cabin and heats up quickly for me after a few minutes.

so just remove the cap and put it back on?

That worked. I was actually getting the EVAC and the bleeder confused but I have much hotter air now!

no problems with the heater here...since the air doesn't blow until it's hot, I spend a little more time feeling chilly, but once it's warm, it's warm for good.

Have'nt tried mine yet........lol

I had that problem with mine, it's a simple sensor issue. I took mine in and they had it fixed within 30 minutes.
