Well...here is my .02.
No discontinuation. It's a bread and butter car. Lower development costs combined with shared components, and then a high price make for a success...even in limited numbers.
1. Existing engine
2. Existing tranny
3. Exisiting Nav/Stereo
4. Existence of most motors, switches, lights, etc.
5. Suspension
6. FM platform used once again
To name a few....
Bulk of the cost is all there and in use already spread across many models, etc. From a COG standpoint...it's a winner.
So there.

If summer comes and the car doesn't sell, I'd say soon. But I think with summer and newer models being just around the bend, cars on the lot will be cheaper and will get bought up.
The 350Z is dirt cheap now for dealers. A dealer I know says you can get them for around 8k or less at auctions. He asked me if I'd like to buy a high mileage '03 for 6k. And he's probably still making something.
Even if the price has to fall, people won't stop buying Zs.

There's always a flip side, even in these times... It's called "A buyers market" ever hear that phrase before? It's the economy looked at from a different angle..
EG: People like you think the world (or in this case the 370) is ending... While people in the other camp, see potentially huge discounts to be had..

Nissan did stop selling the Z for six years and re-intorduced the Z33 with
universal praise. The Z is a 'halo' car for Nissan (along with GT-R) meaning it intices lookers into the showroom. With the re-designed 2010 Mustang and the new retro Camaros and Challengers coming out (heck even the Hyundai Genisis Coupe) the relatively affordable pony car / sports car scene may be getting even stronger. I could not imagine Nissan dumping the Z anytime soon!

As long as it still sells, they will not discontinue it. Its called economies of scale....g35, fx, z...
The incremental cost of the z is not that much and would incease the cost of the other 2.
Simple economics...well not simple but at least an undergraduate level.

The only people I ever see whining about the economy with regards to buying something,(like a 370z) are people who couldn't afford it in the 1st place.. Whine all you want, the "economy" won't magically knockoff $20k on this car no matter how much one bitches..

Now, if gas prices go up and stay there, they might have to perhaps go with a smaller turbo six. So the 3.7-liter engine might not have the same longevity as the Z. I certainly don't see them going larger.
Then again, it never crossed my mind that a 3.5 was insufficient.

The 370 is selling well for this time of the year. The Z is Nissan's icon car. The Z and GT-R are the cars that make Nissan cooler than Toyota ( the buick of Japan ). I highly doubt if they will consider shelving it again anytime in the near future. The life cycle of the 370 should be 5 years.
